I haven't seen the fight till today and, like you, I am actually a Loma fan. So spare me your insinuations.
My honest take is that Loma didn't look all that in this fight. Linares was never anything special, neither now nor ever. I thought it'd be a mismatch. I imagined Loma couldn't do any worse than Salgado, Thompson, or DeMarco, the three guys who beat Linares by KO. It was disappointing to see Loma struggle with such a guy.
Davis is skilled, fresh, young, strong, punches like a sledgehammer with both hands, and has a good defense and solid chin. He's also a vicious body puncher. Linares, on the other hand, is a worn out, damaged goods. If you were not so biased, you would see what Davis brings to the table in a fight against Loma or Mikey.
Linares did fight his heart out, though.
