yeah, but for the bigger guys, each pound is painful, and they wouldn't drop an extra pound just for the hell of it

so he probably isn't cutting a crazy amount of weight

Not sure about setup but they knew he would lose and didn't somebody from GBP basically say he would lose this past week leading up to the fight?

Funny coming from PBC guy. Robert Guerrero, Miguel Vasquez, Jhonny Gonzalez, etc were all set up the same way.

Doesn't always work that way. Scales often fall under different calibration and you might think you have your guy at 135 but your scale was 1lb off. I've trained with pro fighters and have seen this shyt. A 1lb variance is totally normal.

Bull****. He was a world champion but not a good one. As a world champion he should be ready to fight anybody his weight. He probably would have lost to Smith and the Mexican beat him very easily. He beat a sub par Cotto but he isn't very good and will probably never be a world champion again. He got beat by a very high quality fighter and a worthy champion and boxing is better off for it.

Don't understand this 'set up' business. Unless set up means that you are going to have a difficult opponent rather than a gimme fight. Mungaia got given his opportunity and he took it with both hands, great breakout performance from him.

If Munguia made the 154 limit, he is a Jr. middleweight. I was never convinced that Ali was a proper Jr. middleweight. So the disparity in size had to do with both factors.

Did Goldenboy get promotional rights for munguia? If yes, I could see them feeding Ali to Munguia, because Munguia with his fighting style and as a mexican is much easier to sell than a ****** who is called Saddam lol.
If not, It's commendable, but it was a dangerous move to allow ali to face munguia on short notice.

If munguia doesnt made a deal with Goldenboy then they just lost 2 of their champions in one night. Plus their cashcow is sitting out for the first half of the year, maybe Goldenboy recovers with a Matthysse win.

Sadam Ali shouldn't be fighting at 154 anyway.

                    LOL this!

Sadam just beat a very game Cotto to win the title, if he wasnt a light middle, he should not have been there.

Unless same day weigh ins are introduced, this is what boxing is.

                    These PBC fighters are scum.
