    Lomachenko vs. Linares - afterthoughts

To be honest, I am a little surprised at the people celebrating the win and giving huge props to Loma. Do not get me wrong, it was a good fight, but I personally expected more from the so-called #1 P4P boxer in the world. Linares not only held his own, but also made Loma look ordinary and outboxed him on a number of occasions. The best boxer on the planet should not be struggling so much against a 7-to-1 underdog.

Perhaps Loma is not as good as his hype would suggest? Or maybe Linares is better than he is given credit for? What do you gentlemen think?

Fighters are rarely as good as their hype suggests. However, Loma did come up to a new weight, fought the top guy there (or number two guy depending on who you ask) in his first fight at that weight and came out with a KO victory after getting up from a kd. Loma is not a god. And yes, the hype is crazy but it always is. He still did something exceptional tonight. I give him plenty of praise. And Linares has been a champion a long while and had 13 straight wins. And looked a whole lot bigger than Loma. This was exceptional-Loma's best win yet.

Please, post exactly what you expected from a man moving up a division to face a champion. Please be specific.

Linares is a great fighter. clearly the odds didn't match the potential & I dont think you're giving him enough props. It's only the second time Loma has been dropped in the whole of his fighting career apparently - pro and amateur.

I think "struggling" is the wrong terminology. Loma was fighting a welterweight tonight

Loma was outweighed, outreached and yet made his opponent who is the top bloke in the division bleed and outboxed. If that isn't p4p no.1, your idea of p4p must be some form of a greek god ko'ing all his opponents with one punch in the first round

Loma came up a division and knocked out the top 2 world champion who has greater physical attributes than him in his first fight at lightweight. So yes, he lived up to the hype..

            What else do people want?

He had a 15 pound disadvantage

              A height and reach disadvantage

              First time at the weight

And he still won by KO. How many fighters have ever done that against a top ranked opponent in a new division?

Didnt think it was a great performance by Loma, lost a couple rounds and got knocked down.
Linares is chinny and it just shows Loma doesnt have the power at this weight, apart from the bodyshot he didnt hurt Linares all night. Infact it looked as if Linares was coming on strong late in the fight.

If Mikey Garcia landed that right hand he would have seriously hurt Loma, Linares isnt a big puncher.
I expect Crawford to beat Loma handily at this point and even Mikey Garcia

Pacquiao in comparison was such a heavy explosive puncher at the lower weights and he was able to take a lot of it when he moved up, this is not the case with Lomachenko.

Crawford is a 147 fighter now and Loma looked undersized even at 135 really.

If that's one of your best examples of a fight he could lose, then i think it's just proof of how good he is.
