Comments Thread For: Gomez: Ali Showed Confidence Accepting Munguia on Short Notice

NEW YORK Sadam Ali could've been difficult. Once Liam Smith pulled out of their title fight scheduled for Saturday night, Ali could've carefully gone about finding a late replacement for the British contender. The Brooklyn native didn't hesitate, though, when his handlers asked him to make his first title defense against dangerous challenger Jaime Munguia.

    Munguia is dangerous.

But he looks a little slow to me, if Ali could handle Miguel Cotto's pressure then he should be able to handle this guy and outbox him.

This fight is more intriguing then smith. This cat is is phuking huge and looks like has serious power but has fought literally nobody. So how good is he really? Where as Ali elite amateur, Olympian faster more skilled, has fought and beaten much higher caliber opponents...BUT is not a Jr middleweight. Ali is tiny he is not even a big welterweight he moved up to 154 strictly because of the payday to fight cotto. I have no clue how this fight will go if Ali can move and be slick he might get a decision or size will be too much and he gets caught and knocked out. Munguia is a wild card and Ali is too small for 154.

difference is Munguia is going to be taller and heavier than Cotto. Probably even hitting harder.

I do think Munguia is a hard hitter.

But his hands and feet are slower than Cotto's, plus he's inexperienced at the world level. The Ali that showed up against Miguel should be able to win a decision.

I agree that Munguia its big and dangerous but watching his fights i think he lacks skills, and looks slow.

I think Ali its gonna win by decision, but there are gonna be some dangerous moments in the fight thats for sure.

yeah alis a hero for taking on the 'dangerous' munguia, whereas the forum nearly crashed in disgust when it was rumoured that golovkin was gonna fight him.
