The last two I get with my cable subscription at no extra charge.

    Danz?

How is this going to be distributed to the masses? Everyone doesn't have a smart TV - but everyone has a cable box or a dish.
You don't need one. All you need is Wi-Fi which almost every person in the world has access to. Most people have a smart phone, ipad/tablet, laptop, PlayStation, and if you don't, you can use a firestick, Apple tv, etc.etc.

I'm not sure why so many of you still have this old school 'Blockbuster' mentality. Streaming and centralisation of information is where everything is going, it's the future.

      Isn't it 32 fights. Or 32 cards I guess I should say.
At the heart of the deal, Hearn and Matchroom Boxing will stage 16 shows in America, which will be streamed exclusively on DAZN in the States, while 16 of his UK shows will also be shown on the platform.
So its 32 shows a year for $240

I believe HBO currently costs $15/$180 a year. HBO showed 20 cards in 2017.

So that works out to be about $7.50 per card with Dazn & $9 per card for HBO. Granted the value of watching various popular programming on HBO outside of boxing. But from a purely boxing POV it looks like a better deal just for fights. Obviously the roster & fights to be made matters a lot here, but we are likey months off from being able to discuss that angle to this.

maybe he doesnt care if it flops long term he just wanted the investment which will tighten his grip on the UK scene
        It's exactly this.

Over here in the UK all the fights will be on Sky/Sky PPV

Hearn made this deal to get money and exposure.

        Can't fault it.

Problem is this place just gotta turn it into a flame war.

in 2012 people thought I was weird paying for lovefilm every month.

Streaming services are on the rise and TV companies / cable is on the decline.

I have never heard of Dazn but I know it now. There was once I didn't know what Netflix was but now I use it more than normal TV

Signing Jermall Charlo would inherently mean that you'd also need to be able to get to Billy Joe Saunders (behind BoxNation/BT in the UK, and seemingly HBO in the US), and Alvarez/Golovkin/Jacobs/Andrade (all with HBO) to get meaningful fights, and that's before you even get to the guys with Haymon (Showtime) or Oscar.

Jermell Charlo is a good fighter, but he only makes sense if you can get Jarrett Hurd and the WBO 154lb champion also; Charlo with all of the belts would basically force every 154lb fighter to come to him.

Putting Spence behind a separate paywall makes fights against Thurman/Garcia (Showtime) or Pacquiao/Crawford/Horn (ESPN+) more difficult to make.

Joshua coming to this may be possible, but even Eddie Hearn has already gone public on his ceiling for this venture being $20m per event. Wilder-Joshua should easily generate over $50m on US PPV (@$60/$70, you're basically looking at needing 600k homes to top the DAZN money).

If the assumption is that Joshua never breaks 500k homes on US PPV, then great.
If a fight goes to purse bids, Eddie has a good chance to win it. Surely then the fighter has to either be stripped or fight on whatever channel the purse bidder wins?

Mickey and Spence already got their respective $3 mil bribes from Haymon after GBP tried to recruit them.
Will they receive another $3 mil each from their uncle to make them stick around?

I can’t be bothered getting into it with all his deluded, brainwashed fanboys.

But it remains the same, the people who understand boxing know exactly what he is...

Then tell me exactly what he is. Shouldn't be that hard?

                    hmm, I totally disagree.

Of GGG, Jacobs, Andrade and Canelo - Charlo has more of a chance fighting those guys being with Hearn than he does where he is now.

All Haymon guys are not tied down to a TV network -Jacobs fights on HBO, so does the british Haymon guys quite often.

You don't need a smart TV, you can just use your laptop, iphone, tablet or whatever device.

There is a far larger audience for OTT than there is for cable subscriptions in the next 15 years, which is why literally every media outlet is moving in that direction.

                      TV is dying.
