FOCUS...current boxing--unless you'd like to delve into year(s) ago boxing, which isn't current. VADA needs to test Canelo YEAR ROUND. He got hit and tested dirty not once but twice. Then he refused the hair follicle test for months up until the point which it changes to "dormant" which at point de la hoya all of a sudden put it forth to not much avail (you'd think it would be bigger and rightly so). Canelo (don't care either way, stating FACTS) still will not enroll in year round testing. WHY? oscar de la hoya is having all sorts of problems with these kitchen utensil scandal goings on and now gomez says Canelo won't begin testing until a contract is signed--Eddie Hearn, much bigger promoter than Gomez claims VADA doctors tell him drug cheats will cycle off at 8 weeks which is when Canelo got caught. Can we stop looking at our favorite fighters and just start looking at the insurmountable heap of bullsh it?! When is our wife cheating on us lol? Canelo (great boxer) is ****ing the wives and using promoters, judges, and whatever else to make you all look ******. Listen to that in a Ricky Gervais voice. You're being had.

Wlad was a disgusting fighter, that Povetkin fight was one of the worst and most cowardly fights I've seen from a HW champ.

I was never much of a fan of his however you'd be hard pressed to argue otherwise regarding his statement.
I think what makes this worse is how a sanctioning body like the WBC goes out of their way to defend a cheater representing their organization as supposed to chastising them.
It's a new day man.
SMH.

So when Wladimir Klitschko says that he only stands by the rules of the BDB (German Boxing Association), I see his point is to only provide a sample after the fight – the BDB does not call for anything else. However, what does this tell you about what Wladimir Klitschko thinks about the integrity of the sport of boxing?
“He, who is one of the biggest self-promoted boxers in the world. He, who even signed for a commercial with the German [group] NADA as one of their faces – is still the only one of those faces not having a deal with NADA to do 24/7 testing? I think you can answer this question yourself.”

For his fight with, ironically enough, Povetkin:
Bernd Boente, the manager for WBO/IBO/WBA/IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (60-3, 51KOs) has advised BoxingScene.com that his side will only agree to the use of NADA [Nationale Anti Doping Agentur], based in Germany, as the drug testing agency of choice for the upcoming fight with mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin (26-0, 18KOs), scheduled for October 5th in Moscow, Russia.
Povetkin's side wanted to use RUSADA [Russian Anti-Doping Agency], which the Klitschko side rejected. Both NADA and RUSADA are affiliated with WADA [World Anti-Doping Agency].
Boente made it clear to BoxingScene that their position is very firm, and they are willing to walk away from the fight, and a $17 million dollar purse, if NADA is not accepted as the organization to handle the drug testing.

I’m not saying Wlad was juicing, but some of his opponents did question why he refused real ped testing. Apparently, he used Pac’s old excuse “I’ll only do the testing the agency requires” which, apparently, is nothing more than peeing in a cup immediately after the fight.
Wlad was genius not to have signed up for that **** during the Povetkin fight.
If a Russian fighter looses they'll say you were doping, the whole system is rotten.

but in modern boxing it is not enforced as it should be (I don't know if it was the opposite in the past).
nowadays it solely depends on the referee. some hate clinching and penalize dudes quickly, some break up guys as soon as they are close, others allow excessive holding.
the "A-Side" gets to have most things in his favour and that includes the referee, judges who like his particular style more and ring size and the brand of the boxing gloves. it's not really fair, but that's how boxing is.
