Yeah. This shouldn't be Russia - and I say that as someone who freely describes themselves as a Russophile, at least having a fascination and respect for her people, history and culture if not the succession of autarchs that have parked their asses in the Kremlin over the centuries.

Jeddah probably sucks as a venue, but at least it's neutral territory... rather that than Sochi (or indeed, Kiev, not that it's been mentioned). You out there for work, man, or you from the region?

I'm from the UK, but my parents came out here as expats in the late 80s and I've been coming back pretty much my whole life. Right now I'm just started working here myself - not in Saudi itself, which frankly sucks as a place to live, but in Bahrain, which is a small island country in the Gulf connected via causeway, which is a lot more free and overall not a bad place to be. I'd say Jeddah is probably just a little over two hours away by car.

Nice. I've heard good things about Bahrain, although hell, anywhere with a lot of sea and sun would suit me just fine... My Mediterranean blood doesn't approve of the Manchester climate..

Funny, up until recently I was in Manchester as well. My one regret in leaving it behind is that it's harder to watch boxing on TV over here, but that's not a mega problem if you're internet-savvy.
