  • Comments Thread For: Froch on Haye's Future: Only Answer - He Should Retire, 100%

On Saturday night, David Haye's career was left in ruins after he again lost to Tony Bellew, this time after a fifth-round stoppage in their rematch at London's O2 Arena. At 37 and having proved increasingly injury prone, Haye's reputation has been left beyond repair after successive defeats by an opponent who was a light-heavyweight, while he reigned as the WBA heavyweight champion at his peak.

Haye was a great fighter but time waits for no man. There are a few things he could have done better like headlining Las Vegas but he chose a different path. He should just retire now as he doesn't possess the attributes that made him that good like speed, reflexes and pOwer. Besides his body is breaking down which is a sign that he should focus on procreation rather than fighting.

Of course he should, he’s shot.

He had a good career, he was a good cruiserweight champ and moved up and picked up a heavyweight world title too. Far more than most will achieve. Been in some big events and brought some entertainment like with the whole Chisora saga.

Why continue except for money? He will just lose to guys that couldn’t lace his gloves in the past. These losses to Bellew haven’t really hurt his legacy much, everyone is just urging him to retire saying he’s done. Nobody is saying he is a bum or anything.

If he goes out now, he will be remembered as a once very good fighter that doesn’t have it anymore, that’s all.

Everybodys race is ran at some point. He shouldn’t announce anything he should just go out quietly. We know he’s done. You can’t take a big break like this with his attributes and return thinking you still got it.

I wouldn't be surprised if he faces a weak comeback opponent and then fought Tyson Fury. He should retire but will tell himself one last go at it or at least one last payday. Of course nobody is going to pay for AJ-Haye or Wilder-Haye, but Fury is coming off the inactivity and it's expected he'll face 2-3 non-elite guys before targeting the belts. Fight will probably get cancelled when one pulls out injured.

He could make a small fortune fighting Fury TBH.

My favourite fighter dismantled by Tony Bellew, he seemed to be injured again. This comeback full of injuries, very disappointed fan here. Would've liked to have seen him fight for the vacant WBO belt back at the end of 2016, instead he gave up his no.1 ranking to fight Bellew and here we are but I suppose he made about £15 million from the 2 fights a lot more than he would of got against Parker or Ruiz for a vacant belt maybe a £1 million purse or so.

I thought then he could've unified with AJ and made his money in that fight.

He's obviously been injured constantly since his comeback in January 2016 and took the easier fight with Bellew or thought so anyway, What a disappointing end to his career.

Part of me wants him to **** out 2 tomato cans and then fight an eliminator and get a mandatory shot but that will never happen...

It goes without saying. Was sad to watch Haye fall apart Saturday night, but all good careers must come to and end..

Unified world cruiserweight champion and world Heavyweight champion, great achievements. But he should’ve stayed retired after the Chisora win..
