I think the outcome would've been the same just like when it happened to Lemieux. Granted it was worse for Vanes but he already got rocked with a big shot beforehand.

Yeah, how the fk can anyone even say they're in the same league. Roy fired off a 2 piece when dude was on a knee looking somewhere else and the left hook was after a slight delay.

I think Vanes would have beat the count if not for the last shot. He was taking a knee, when that shot landed he went to the canvas.
