It's been a while since I've seen Golovkin sway and slip punches from a much faster opponent. Was Vanes chosen to make Golovkin a better boxer for the Canelo fight?
Was Vanes chosen specifically to train Golovkin's agility?

I doubt it, I think it Vanes was low risk because he has no power, so his best chance is to outbox or out-work you. But, that wasn't going to happen because he was rusty and didn't have a full camp. So, Vanes had no path to victory. I think he was chosen because he would accept the fight for moderate pay. I'm at least glad it wasn't Spike, as he's an even worse opponent (though that's hard to even say after what we just watched).Comment
