We have to be very careful here, i remember Benavidez older brother and how he was touted to be the future. Not saying he can't be but he hasn't progress in the way everyone was touting him to at that time. We have to be caution of young talents.Comment

But the kid is 20 years old
Can only go forward from what we’ve seen unless derailed by bullchit
And if I’m not mistaken that is kind of what happened to big broComment

But you need to beat someone or at least look impressive beating guys in order to be considered p4p material.
I like benavidez, but he is still a work in progress. He has improved a good deal from the first to the second fight against gavril, but he is not p4p material by struggling with gavril in the first fight and smashing medina, who is a punching bag.
Ryan Garcia is even less proven and just had his first stepup, in which he looked ok, but not impressive. Dude can take his time. He is young and as far as I know doesnt have an amateur pedigree.Comment

You dont need to be a fighter and beat dudes to evaluate and question someone's resume in the same way as film critics dont need to direct actual films to criticize other films.

As you said , between the two Gavril fights you saw improvement
Now if he don’t fugh this up , time is on his sideComment

I think Benavidez is 21 years old and he already is a champion. I think he is great and the best 168 pound boxer in the world right now. I don't think Garcia is even close to being as good as Benavidez and I don't think he ever will be. I am not sure he will be a world champion. I think he might get beat when he steps up in class. He is only 19 and could improve. He needs to improve a lot to be the superstar he is already claiming to be. Tank and Loma will slaughter him now or even years from now in my opinion. Benavidez is for real but I have doubts about Garcia becoming this world beater and the future of the sport. No one or two boxers are the future of the sport. They are only part of it. Benavidez is great for boxing right now just like GGG, Hurd, Loma, Tank, Crawford, Jermall, Spence and many other champions are great for boxing.Comment

Benavidez holds a world title against the weakest opponent he could have possibly ever faced, I should reserve judgement until he has actually fought someone good, but honestly I believe Garcia has fought better opponents so far so yeah I don't think it will go well for Benavidez If he fights someone like Eubank Jr etc.Comment

Saw my first Ryan Garcia fight tonight, and I guess I don't see what you see, tbh.
He's got a good, but not great, punch, and he's got fast feet. He doesn't really throw in combination, he doesn't really use his lead jab, and his defense is leaky as all hell (made worse by his seeming refusal to move his head)Comment
