Barrera taking on a more technical style after the Junior Jones loses and loss to Morales in their first fight enabled him to defeat Morales twice. Defeat Hamed, and reach as high as two or three on several P4P lists at the height of his career.

Technical brilliance is also the reason the “prideful Mexicans” Barrera and Morales, along with Hamed ducked JMM like a plague in that golden era of featherweights.
