Good luck to em both. I'll be too fckd up to watch anyway.

I think thinking about Vanes as a scrub is a big mistake.
Dude is a spoiler and only lost to southpaws who moves a lot (Andrade, Lara), I thought he had a draw with Jermell and Jermell was on his bike too.
Vanes doesn't cut off the ring very well but he won't have versus GGG.

I know 154 pounder + 2 years off is a very bad look.

But Vanes is one of those 154 6 footers who kills himself to make 160, might end up comfortable at that weight.

Regarding the 2 years lay off, it is sure supposed to affect the fighter but what if he doesn't affect him at all or even benefit him...
I remember Vitali came back "beastier" after a 4 years lay off and destroyed Peter in a fight many thought he was going to lose.

You never know what you're going to get in boxing. All I saw is Vanes looks in shape, no fat, he's taller, clearly longer than GGG.

Sorry I'm passing. I'll watch Fridays fights and Bellow/Haye but I take this fight highly offensive. Any other day I would of been cool but calling 2 white guys (Or Asian) MexiCAN style just seems very wrong. Plus it's a glorified sparring match.

I didnt watch Liam/Caneo or Berto/Floyd, and Floyd/McNugget because i dont support these types of mismatches.

Vanes immediately vacates all of the belts though, or as the mandatory comes due, waiting for his own Canelo payday.
Dude as much as I like Golovkin, I love the sport more and shockers like that shake up the sport which to me is a good thing. He's no slouch, people did the same thing to Jacobs and we saw it was a tough night for the champion. At 36/37 life changes whether people here want to admit it or not, and two years inactive at 32 isn't a big things we saw it with Ward and i'm not comparing Vanes to Ward beyond the physical aspect of youth. I would say it would suck for Golovkin to lsoe his shot at hitting the record books but the sport is bigger than any one man.

Dude, fans/haters love to discount the heart of fighters. We've seen not the best fighters shock the world before, anyone who has watched really watched boxing knows that a win is never ever guaranteed unless the opponent went in there to lose from the moment they signed a contract. Vanes isn't a great, nor is he elite but he's a fighter, a real fighter by all definitions. That's something this millennial batch of fans just flat out discounts, on any given night a pro can have the fight of his life. That's what really makes the sport, not just elites fighting elites. It's those moments where the everyday man shocks the world.

Yeah, I mean, Vince Philips stopped Kostya Tszyu coming off a LOSS.

If we had NSB back in the days, haters would have roasted Tszyu for fighting Philips.

                  The list goes on...

Regarding Vanes level, I would say he's obviously not a great fighter, but not being elite I dunno.

I would say he was elite at 154 2 years ago.

He has olympic pedigree, was a solid top 10 fighter in a deep division like 154, I don't know what the criteria of elite is but top 10 in a solid division should be elite unless we are talking about a sht division like 140.

If he was not elite then why Jermell Charlo is regarded as a rising star since Vanes is his best win and he needed some generous cards to get the W.

Don't me wrong he's not elite anymore, letting alone at 160.

But don't sleep on a guy like that.

Dude you have a gang of dudes on here who rode Broner and Russell Jr's nuts super hard and want to act like we don't remember. There are super double standards for some fighters. The level of criticism doesn't apply to all fighters for them. Neither Charlo (with all due respect) has done anything to write home about and yet they are elite fighters who everyone is scared of somehow. When a star they like doesn't fight someone it's called business but when a star they don't like doesn't fight who they do like then it's a duck.
