Good luck to em both. I'll be too fckd up to watch anyway.
Dude is a spoiler and only lost to southpaws who moves a lot (Andrade, Lara), I thought he had a draw with Jermell and Jermell was on his bike too.
Vanes doesn't cut off the ring very well but he won't have versus GGG.
I know 154 pounder + 2 years off is a very bad look.
But Vanes is one of those 154 6 footers who kills himself to make 160, might end up comfortable at that weight.
Regarding the 2 years lay off, it is sure supposed to affect the fighter but what if he doesn't affect him at all or even benefit him...
I remember Vitali came back "beastier" after a 4 years lay off and destroyed Peter in a fight many thought he was going to lose.
You never know what you're going to get in boxing. All I saw is Vanes looks in shape, no fat, he's taller, clearly longer than GGG.

Vanes immediately vacates all of the belts though, or as the mandatory comes due, waiting for his own Canelo payday.

Dude, fans/haters love to discount the heart of fighters. We've seen not the best fighters shock the world before, anyone who has watched really watched boxing knows that a win is never ever guaranteed unless the opponent went in there to lose from the moment they signed a contract. Vanes isn't a great, nor is he elite but he's a fighter, a real fighter by all definitions. That's something this millennial batch of fans just flat out discounts, on any given night a pro can have the fight of his life. That's what really makes the sport, not just elites fighting elites. It's those moments where the everyday man shocks the world.

If we had NSB back in the days, haters would have roasted Tszyu for fighting Philips.
The list goes on...
Regarding Vanes level, I would say he's obviously not a great fighter, but not being elite I dunno.
I would say he was elite at 154 2 years ago.
He has olympic pedigree, was a solid top 10 fighter in a deep division like 154, I don't know what the criteria of elite is but top 10 in a solid division should be elite unless we are talking about a sht division like 140.
If he was not elite then why Jermell Charlo is regarded as a rising star since Vanes is his best win and he needed some generous cards to get the W.
Don't me wrong he's not elite anymore, letting alone at 160.
But don't sleep on a guy like that.
