No offence, S_L, cos I do like you, but you're just a young kid who's the very epitome of naive (you actually think Roy Jones had a competitive career!) and are not in a position to be giving me a lecture. You're a cool guy, but you're kind of like a three-legged dog with dysentry. Sometimes you're funny, other times you hobble into threads dragging **** behind you.
Aside from the fact that you're British (which is bad enough) you are painfully inferior to me in every way, age notwithstanding. You are obviously a little too sensitive.

Roy Jones is clearly better than any of your British counterparts...and his resume is better as well. Furthermore, you don't have a very good judge of sarcasm if you think I was anything close to serious when I said Jones' chin was made of forged steel.

Thanks! I don't know boxing history as much as I'd like, but I know a lot about human history.

I like the guy, but seeing him being interviewed by Merchant on Saturday night he came across to me as HBO's new house boy, a guy who gets the nod in (three) close fights because he's got a nice smile and doesn't get "uppity" like Hopkins and Wright.

Check out the interview with Larry again - every other line is "Yes, suh!" It's almost as if he's trying to call on a media lineage with Step'n'Fetchit, only without the thin vineer of satirical intent.

I'm not saying it's bad, but he's the sort of guy PBDS would describe as "one of the good negros". I can quite imagine that he'll get to equal or even surpass Hopkins's 20 defences record just as long as he goes up to Jim "God bless America!" Lampley and say "I'sa been a good bwoy today, boss!"

        I've gone too far, haven't I?
i guess your an fan of the nice guys always finish last phrase

            • everyone is entitled to their opinion, and the fact that people found what you said anorak to be disrespectful is totally fine. this is just a boxing forum, you know.

on the other hand, all these uncle tom assed posts are what you should really be ashamed of.

              • Taylor is a polite, classy guy. He doesn't need the thug-speech and all the posing, why? Because he has self-confidence and dignity. Ever notice that the big dogs are usually silent and nice and the little feists are all loud and strung out, as a general rule? The big dogs know what's up, usually being more calm and relaxed, and the little dogs have to constantly yell and pose and make lots of noise to keep everyone off of them.

That's the inferiority complex that many people also have who feel the need to strut around, being loud and obnoxious. (You'll usually see them in little thug groups, too, for the whole "safety in numbers" thing, because they actually have no heart and need to surround themselves with a crowd to feel safe.)

Being silent and polite when you don't have to is not a sign of being an "Uncle Tom." Taylor is a millionaire world champion. He is not embarrassed about being polite and honest, why? Because of his self-confidence and class.

If you're going to ask if Taylor is an "Uncle Tom" then you need to have some sort of theoritcal motivation for him being so. There is none. He could tell the world to go to hell and call Merchant an old white honkey and still live the rest of his life in comfort and peace. He's polite because he has class and a good upbringing, not because of any need to appease or please.

You said it was made of a mountain rock if I remember rightly.

And I never said he wasn't better than Eubank, did I? I think you're mistaking me with JuyJuy there.
