you mentioning Hopkins lowest-level opponents, is just you trying to make excuses to justify Golovkin's low-level of opponents..... which will not prove how great either of those guys were
Hopkins beat Trinidad..... and Golovkin beat Jacobs
/story
You seem to miss my whole comment. I asked you a simple question .... look at Hopkins resume at 160 before and even after Trinidad. His resume is garbage compared to GGG. It's that simple.
Not a single person cared for Hopkins prior to his fight with Tito. He was not on PPV neither was he on HBO. The only reason reason Hopkins career took off was Tito and then Oscar. Like i said, after Tito he still continued to fight BUMS because he just couldn't sell any fight.

He fought Robert Allen three times, Antwon Echols twice and the only reason Hopkins became somebody is because he beat up Trinidad and Oscar. Both had no shot at beating him since they were much smaller than him.
Infact after Hopkins beat Tito in 2001 he went on to fight some fringe contenders until he beat Oscar in 2004. Hopkins is a great fighter that I respect but I only came to respect him after he moved up to 175 and literally beat almost everyone except Kovalev and all the guys he beat were much younger than him so on a grander scale of course Hopkins is a legend while the verdict on GGG is still out there.
Please take a look at Hopkins record at 160 before and after he beat Tito. He even ducked Roy Jones and asked for a 50-50 split of the purse just because he had beaten Tito. Hopkins was not in a position to dictate the terms with the then P4P King. He had never even been on PPV.
Try to be open minded like I said and just look at his list of opponents at 160 and tell me it's better than GGG. It is NOT

Outside of Tito, every hopkins mw opponent was pretty garbage and average at best.
Name the fighters you think that were better than Murray, geale, etc.

Johnson was a totally green counterpuncher when Hopkins fought him. It wasn’t till years later and johnson changed his style did he achieve success.
Jackson was good in the early 90s but by the late 90s when Hopkins fought him, he was a total shell of himself and shot to pieces. Same goes for joppy.
Holmes and Tito were the best, most talented and prime fighters Hopkins fought at mw.
Echols and Allen were prime, but not very good, or at least weren’t legit world caliber fighters, just a notch below.
Eastman was a stiff
Mercado was decent but not world class
The rest was bums including Oscar which was a total farce of a fight.
I think hopkins is greater than ggg, I think Tito is the best win between the two. But after that, if you look at strictly their mw runs, ggg has more depth in caliber of opponents.
If I had to list the best fighters that either faced- ggg opponents would fill a lot more slots.
1 Tito
2 canelo
3 Jacobs
4 Murray
5 geale
6 Holmes
7 lemuiex
8 Echols
9 brook
10 macklin/stevens/rosado/Mercado

Just give me (1) name instead of looking at his record because anyone can win and defend against tomato cans. And he lost to Lucian Bute??? Huh???
How many *undefeated* beltholders @ 160 has the Triple Duck beaten?
