Comments Thread For: GGG: Look at Hopkins; My Record's Much Bigger, Stronger at 160!

If Gennady Golovkin beats Vanes Martirosyan on Saturday night, he'll tie Bernard Hopkins' middleweight record by making a 20th consecutive defense of one of his 160-pound titles. The potential tie notwithstanding, Golovkin thinks his reign is more impressive than Hopkins' 10-year run as a middleweight champion. The unbeaten Golovkin said during a conference call Monday that his record is "much stronger" than Hopkins' resume when the Philadelphia native was a middleweight champ.

“I feel like a star, like a star because, just if you check Bernard’s opponents probably you understand that my record is much bigger, is much stronger, bigger,” Golovkin said. “This is a good situation for me and for my career and for my fans, of course. That’s it.”

He's been smoking the same stuff his fans smoke. What a moron.

His best wins are Jacobs, Brook and Lemieux. Can't believe he's talking about his record being much stronger. Not to mention a lot of his "defences" were of the regular title while there was a super champ. They shouldn't even count. How could there be 2 WBA world champions. That's like people calling Murata the WBA champ now. GTFOH

Hopkins best wins at mw were against a ww moving up. Everyone else he fought wasn't much better than ggg's opponents.

I agree, with a resume that has wade monroe rubio and rosado it is a sure thing that Golovkin has cemented himself as an All Time Great
