  • Comments Thread For: Erickson Lubin: I Definitely Want a Rematch With Jermell Charlo

Junior middleweight contender Erickson Lubin is back in the hunt for a world title shot. Last October at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, Lubin was shockingly knocked out in the first round by WBC world champion Jermell Charlo. The outcome was shocking to many, as the contest was widely viewed as one of the better matchups of the year.

That's the attitude. Some will say he'll get stopped again, but that's not the point.
People like to put down fighters instead of giving props. Then they wonder why fighters don't like to test themselves or take risks.

Would I recommend Lubin to fight Charlo right away? No, but it's great to see him having this attitude.

Lubin should be looking at guys like Julian Williams after another tune up or two.
I would like that fight actually.

Lubin needs to hire Mammoth as an adviser based on this solid take on the situation.

It was probably just to build his confidence a little, not that he lacks it, because he's been asking for a Charlo rematch almost right after the first fight.
Now, he definitely needs some a little bit more tougher.
I'll be looking at guys like Ishe Smith next. Smith gave Williams a very tough fight. Smith is also not a puncher so Lubin should be able to work on things.

Then after that get a fight with Julian Williams or Austin Trout, if he's still around. Maybe a Soro.
              Just ideas here.

Lubin needs to be patient. He's with Al Haymon and PBC he will eventually get another shot maybe in a year or two.

Lubin got embarrassed and is a perfect example of why young fighters shouldn't be always FAST TRACKED.

Lubin should fight the K-9's, Tony Harrison, Liam Smith's before thinking about fighting the elites of the division.

This kid has chin issues. He's not gonna be anything more than a bottom top 10 contender
