that was one of the best gimmicks of all time man..used to love his vignettes....and how he would treat virgil...or when he would stuff 100's in guys mouths after beating them...or the time he was gonna pay a kid 100 bucks to dribble a basketball 10 times and kicked it away......he just had that great, maniacal, laugh

i think a fighter of golovkin's caliber of "stay busy" fight should be atop 10-15 contender. vanes is an inactive fighter who did his best work at 154. not a total scrub at his best, but he's not at his best, and it's at MW where he's done nothing.Comment

Sulecki was set to fight Vanes Martirosyan and was the betting underdog.
Jacobs went life and death with Sulecki.
Lara went life and death with Vanes
Charlo went life and death with Vanes.
Nobody wanted the Vanes fight, but people claim Vanes is so bad but praise other fighters who fight even worse guys and they actually pick these guys instead of GGG.Comment

I agree with your assessment for the most part, it should be a ~top20 fighter IMO. The way I look at Vanes, he has a couple of really close losses to the top5 guys at 154. He's in that top5-top10 category easily. If he moves up to MW, he easily makes top20 or so. His inactivity level is a concern, however it's not like we're talking about Maidana who retired and is suddenly coming back. Vanes had a few fights fall through which resulted in him being inactive.
At worst, he's a ~top30 MW. Realistically, I think he's somewhere in that 15-20 range, which makes him a decent stay busy fight. Not a great one, but as a last minute replacement, he works.Comment

Maybe you were good back in the day but you're past your prime as a poster now. Old and shot.i've won poster of the year and i was in the top three every year for several years when i posted more. had media credentials for several years, and i've still got some of the contact information for a lot of your favorite boxers and their management in my phone.
your buddy vanes, for instance, i have had lunch with an opponent of his, demetrius andrade, and his family, and i know his half brother maceo well enough that we are casual friends. ask around, i actually know what i am talking about. i have a personal or professional connection to a lot of the fighters and fights you talk about. been ringside on press row for fights on showtime, hbo, espn, and locally in ny and MA.
i'm certainly in a position where you should shut the f#ck up and listen when i'm talking. i've read enough of your partisan BS to know that.Comment

yeah. thats my point, not saying vanes is a great fighter, but the match up is better than a lot of fights out there yet the other guys get a pass for fighting opposition that are even worse than a stand in replacement lolSulecki was set to fight Vanes Martirosyan and was the betting underdog.
