Breakdown of potential fight between Danny Jacobs and Jermall Charlo.

The MiddleWeight Division is heating up and you could argue that this is one of, if not, the best division in all of boxing. In no order, we have GGG, Canelo, Billy Joe, Jacobs, Charlo, Derevyanchenko, Murata, and Andrae. Outside of GGG vs Canelo, another super-Middleweight fight is heating up: Danny Jacobs vs Jermall Charlo.

Both are highly skilled, athletic, devastating punchers, and appear to possess a killer instinct like only the top guys have. Both have pretty solid resumes and appear to want to be the top of the division. Charlo is seen to be the favorite but after watching numerous fights from both, I do see a pretty decent disparity in skill. Jacobs is the more well-rounded fighter, uses the jab more consistently, has the better defense, hand speed, footwork, counterpunching, and movement. Charlo is the stronger fighter out of the two and seems to throw with more of a purpose(that does not mean that he hits harder than Jacobs) Charlo's chin has yet to be tested while Jacobs has been knocked out and has lost twice( one coming at the hands of GGG) But, I don't think those defeats should give Jermall the benefit of the doubt, since we have yet to see Jermall in there with a top Middleweight. We have seen Jacobs in the with the likes of Prior and GGG(who is arguably a top 10 MW of all time) And in the fight against GGG Jacobs showed us that he can make adjustment and box really well. Yes, he was knocked down but that was due to being more off-balanced than anything. He took some pretty big shots from GGG and kept coming. If anything, that proves that he has a pretty solid chin.

Charlo is a hungry fighter who shows promise but I do not think that Charlo has enough experience with dealing with top Middleweights of the caliber of Jacobs. Charlo has beaten every fighter that has been put in front of him and that is what we should expect. But based off a resume, eye test, and actual skill I do not think Charlo should be the favorite against Jacobs. I just got done watching Jacobs vs Sulecki and Jacobs showed elite boxing ability, defense, ability to switch stances, solid chin, and a very consistent jab. I see Jacobs outboxing Charlo for twelve rounds. Charlo will let his hands go but Jacobs ability to counterpunch and turn defense into offense will be the difference maker.

    Thoughts???

I hate to crap on your parade but isn't Jacobs with HBO now? If so, fight's not happening.

Politics aside, it would make for a good fight and I'm kind of surprised that people are not pushing for it.

For some reason Charlo fans want Charlo to fight bums next in order to get the GGG shot. I mean they said that Jacobs is easy work for what he had shown last night but isn't keen on pushing the fight.

You almost get the feeling that some people think only Golovkin should fight the best while everyone else takes on soft touches until it's their turn.

Charlo is free to fight on any network. Sulecki is with Haymon and just fought on HBO.

I hate to sounds like one of those guys but it depends on "what Jacobs shows up". He can fight at a really high level or look like butt.

You summed it up perfectly doe.
I don't know of any fight bigger than Charlo vs Jacobs outside of a Canelo or GGG in this division.

I don't know why people think this is so competitive. Jermall would sleep Danny. I like Jacobs but this is a bad fight for him.
