I think so, both on the basis of him being undefeated at the time and also the rawness of AJ when he fought him. Probably 5th out of the 5 which I'd arrange so:

    Wladimir Klitschko
    Joseph Parker
    Carlos Takam
    Dillian Whyte
    Dominic Breazeale

But with just 20 pro fights there's still not a great deal of depth there. Next you'd have to look at Charles Martin or Eric Molina and neither of them are that great. The three of them were Haymon fighters and Hearn had to give him options on 2 AJ fights to land the Martin belt shot. It was a relief when that deal ended and he could face the best man in the division.

Was Wlad really the best man in the division then?

Fury had self destructed and was out of the picture. Who else compared to Wlad?

            In my opinion, in order:

            1) Wladimir Klitschko (unbelievable fight, unification, hall of famer)
            2) Joseph Parker (unification)
            3) Charles Martin (first belt and at the time of the fight this was a big bold step, many were questioning it!)
            4) Dillian Whyte (first time he had been shook but came back from it)
            5) Carlos Takam (suffered early headbutt but got through the adversity and won pretty much every round)

I don't really consider the Wlad fight as a unification. You unify against other champions. That was just two guys fighting for a vacant title. One having not fought in 2 years

Also what was so bold about the fight with Martin? Martin had done nothing at that point and even now in his career. He shouldn't even of been given that title.

Wlad Klit - A veteran against an up coming prospect who lacks experience at that stage.
                  Parker - Unification
Whyte - Domestic grudge, real hatred match up
Martin - First world title at only 16 fights
                  Takam - Very tough fighter.

Special mention - Breazeale but they were both at the same stage before that fight so i don't want to rate it higher.

no, you're the one who asked for a TOP 5.

                    But 5 is 25% of Joshua's record.

His best wins are a solid top three of Wlad, Parker and Whyte.

He has the best record in HW boxing along with Povetkin, then Wilder.
