Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised to see Frank in the ring as the ref for the fight. He has been getting the calls to do some good fights lately and has been doing a great job.
The commentators kind of ripped on him when he called Taylor for pushing down on the head of Wright, but it was a good and proper call.
I have known Frank for about 20 years now, he used to ref and judge my bouts as an amatuer and pro.
He was present when I tested into the Association of Boxing Commisions as a referee. We were sitting and talking and he said some words to me that made me feel great. He said, Robbie, if your true to the game and do what you need to do, you could be one of the best. That hit deep inside of me. I have always respected Frank as an honest and good man not to mention a very apt referee. For him to say those words to me was great. I hope to see Frank continue in the big fights. Frank will not be swayed by hometowns or big names, he will call them as he sees them. More like Frank in the game would only be for the better of the sport.
