So effectively his $1 million payday is more like ~$600k and his $2 million paydays are looking like $1.1 million.

Sure, he's making money, but not retire for life money. He's probably close, I just know I wouldn't want to retire with what he has. I guess what I'm trying to say is that he hasn't made anywhere near enough money to quench that hunger. There's no way someone looks at their bank account at his level and says "Yeah, that's good enough." Not when there are more million/multi-million dollar paydays out there.

Well forgive me, you're one of the few here if this is true. I think you can see where I'm coming from with my initial reaction based on the typical posters here.
Much respect for a balanced and reasonable response.

My only point was that some athletes are unique and are really responsible with their earnings. You have guys like Kirk Cousins driving an old pick-up truck while clearing $20 million per year.

I have a few buddies in the NFL (both on their third contracts) who live very ordinary lives. You'd never know both made over $30 million playing football lol

Controlling your annual expenses isn't that hard when your kids are young and don't go to private school.

But to your point. I probably couldn't walk away from that extra $10 million he likely has waiting on him.

      Lol. I hear you.
On a serious note, I like Keith but it seems he is going though issues most likely not of his making, making it impossible for him to be active.

      Life has to move on.

Other fighters have families to feed too

I honestly hope things work out for him though.

Keith Thurman has likely made NFL first round draft pick money in his career. I count at least $7 million over the last three/four years. That's more than 95% (probably closer to 99%) of professional boxers. Not to mention his potentially promising career as a commentator.

Btw, I'm a midtown NYC lawyer working in big law (private equity M&A). I think I understand money pretty well. I make my fair share. Lol
Keith doesn't live in NY nor does he have expensive needs. He rides a bicycle, gets his hair cut at a barber, he's the guy next door. $4 million in rentals in Clearwater would more than support Keth's life style.

Keith is smart, he'll probably be back for 10 million but he'll do it on his terms, in his time. Belts or not, Keith is still the financial draw at welter weight.

He doesn't ride a bike, he has/had 2 shelby GT350s. Maybe his lifestyle before he got married was a little more down to earth but the guy is married now.

Keith hasn't made enough to responsibly go out and buy $4 million in rental property. Not to mention property in this area is at all time highs, would probably be a bad investment for Keith.
