Comments Thread For: Keith Thurman Vacates WBC Title, Garcia-Porter Ordered

According to World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman, Keith Thurman (28-0, 22 KOs) has vacated the WBC welterweight title. Thurman has been inactive since March of 2017, when he won a twelve round split decision over Danny Garcia to unify the WBA, WBC world titles.

Sounds fair. He's been way too inactive.

Great news. Whole division can’t wait for Keith.

Sucks for him if his injuries really are holding him back but he is in the mandatory position still which is how it should be. He should be given his chance to win the belt back when he’s ready.

I’m more interested in a Danny/Porter fight then either of the rematches anyway and that isn’t even factoring in the belt.

            Hope this fight happens next

The real question; Does Cherry Garcia actually fight Short Port??? That might turn into a good one if Garcia takes it. For some reason or another, Garcia has acted like he doesn’t fancy the fight. On another note, I’m a Keef fan, glad to see him not hold the title hostage. He had the WBA first, so he should keep that and seek out the BC when he’s ready. Props for not holding the title hostage, if true
