GGG still has the canelo rematch and then a unification fight with BJS. This could take 1-1.5 years. Now will sergey, andrade, charlo, and jacobs continue to face tomato cans or will they ever face each other while waiting for their payday against canelo or ggg? Do they get a pass facing bums while ggg is looking to unify and face canelo again?

Fight your mandatories or give up your belts; it's really that simple at this point.

The WBC has basically kept the IBF off for a bit, but the IBF is next and it's not all that clear that the IBF is going to let Golovkin fight his can in May, be in the lurch until Alvarez decides his fight in September, and then be put in the lurch again for another 4 months (or to see Team Golovkin try and stall for a third fight in May with Alvarez).

The IBF is owed a fight, the WBC just named their mandatory last Saturday, and the WBA will name their mandatory this weekend.

While Golovkin fights a junior middleweight and waits for Alvarez through the summer, he can simply give Derevyanchenko the IBF 160lb belt, and we'll see Derevyanchenko vs Tommy Langford for the vacant belt, to send Derevyanchenko on his way to achieving his dream.

With the IBF out of the way, Jermall Charlo is up next as the WBC mandatory, and he's already done the reasonable thing of giving Golovkin some time to figure his own life out (looking down the current WBC rankings, the most viable current option for the rumored August Jermall Charlo tickover fight is Willie Monroe Jr, because Oscar isn't going to let Lemieux or Quigley get even into the state of Texas when Charlo's around, nevermind fight him).

Charlo fighting in August basically keeps him okay until likely the end of the year; if the WBC goes along with a Billy Joe Saunders unification fight for Golovkin/Alvarez, Charlo takes a bit more of a break, but his own mandatory would be due by the Spring, or else he gets his own belt too.

Jacobs has the most time to deal with, tbh; if he beats Sulecki this weekend, the earliest he can reasonably expect his own shot at the WBA belt would likely be late Summer of next year. Depending on how things are paced out, we're talking about three fights before his shot.

Brant, N'Dam, O'Sullivan, Soro; not the most exciting options, but that's not the point. Jacobs gets the chance to keep pushing his feel good story, as one of the few fighters that HBO is openly willing to be investing money in, while he continues to build his drawing power in the NYC market.

Jacobs gets on enough of a roll, and he can likely forget about waiting on the mandatory shot, as he'd likely get Canelo or Golovkin as a voluntary.

Golovkin's not going to skate through this, proudly holding onto his belts while holding them hostage for a money fight against a guy who doesn't care about belts, and watching the top challengers short circuit each other.

Fight or give up the belts

GGG needs to let go of them belts if hes not going to fight for them.
Stop holding them hostage so we do get to see these other mandos face each other.
Im a GGG fan but dont like his decisions lately.

Unification trumps mandatory in Wbc. Let's see what ibf does. Dibella said if a rematch is made right away with canelo this month then they will let ggg fight canelo. So again the question will they continue to face bums or will they face each other?

-Derevyanchenko is IBF mandatory and will likely have another 8 round fight near the end of the year to tick over while he waits.

-Charlo has an August fight (my guess is that Willie Monroe Jr gets the shot, but it'll be someone rated in the WBC's top 15) and will have his WBC mandatory shot.

-Jacobs has the WBA mandatory eliminator this weekend, and will likely spend the next year profile building in NYC (WBA rated fighters, but likely not great fighters).

They'll wait, in their own ways; Canelo won't rush his decision to save Golovkin one of his precious belts, so let's see what the IBF does (I think they strip Golovkin for not defending their belt in a timely fashion).

Golovkin fights Alvarez in September; if he wins that fight, Golovkin has to either agree to fight Billy Joe Saunders or fight WBC mandatory Jermall Charlo by the end of the year. He fights Saunders, and he's compelled to fight Jermall Charlo in spring 2019 (with fights in April and late August, waiting 5-6 months, at most, for his shot shouldn't be too hard on Charlo).

Golovkin wins that fight, and he's immediately got to get ready for the Jacobs rematch in Summer 2019 (or fight Derevyanchenko for the IBF middleweight title in a unification fight... =))

The mandatories are on the verge of being set, and they aren't fighting each other until they each get their shot at their title, vacant belt or not.
