But lil g is still fighting on May 5th. He’s not getting big bucks and he’s fighting a 154 lb guy who is semi retired. That’s cherry picking and it’s big reason why boxing struggles to be mainstream and ufc has built such a following. I’m totally relaxed, I have an HBO subscription already and will still watch the fight but the hardcore fans need to turn the heat up on cherry pickers. Andrade probably thought he was going to make at least a Mill if that fight would have come off, but would have got a shock to learn that the pay was only about 400,000. His enthusiasm would have dwindled on hearing that I think. No way he fights G for that much.

As I said, after the fight was called off, HBO was going to stick with the PPV broadcast and Andrade and others were in the mix. I understand why lil g is fighting Vanes and I also understand why he probably won’t take any meaningful risky fights before the Canelo rematch. It will be interesting to see if he drops his IBF title in order to rematch Canelo (I expect that he will).

I think a champion should fight hes number one contender regardless of anything else. I just dont see what Charlo has done so far to merit the high expectation.
