Nothing wrong with this. Free market at work. It gives trainer an incentive to attract new boxers.

I agree, those trainer of the year awards are bogus, half the time I don't agree with them.

Having a belt or many belts that the trainer can showcase in his gym I think means more than some award agreed upon by a bunch of biased or agenda driven writers.

But still, the WBC is not doing this out of the kindness of their heart, they want that money. Sulaiman said on IG that it was requested by fans. Never have I heard that but if it's not too much money and the trainer is cool with it and can afford the fee. It's all good I guess.
