Hearn to fly over next week for a sitdown negotiation between joshua/wilder

Eddie Hearn has stated that he will be flying to New York next week to have a meeting with Wilder's team to go over the negotiations for the Joshua/Wilder fight. Hearn has said that the flat fee offer to Wilder in the amount of 12.5 million is a fair offer, and that would give Wilder a career high payday, which equates to around 5 times his highest ever purse. Hearn also stated that the fight should generate 40 million, which would give Joshua's side 27.5 million and would net Joshua 50% over his highest ever purse. That would equate to a 69/31 purse split if it was by percentages. If the fight did in fact do 40 million, and they agreed on a 60/40 purse split, that would net each team 24 million and 16 million, respectively. That's not far off, but the problem with the flat fee offer is the upside potential if the fight generates more. Hearn knows this fight is worth more than 40 million and that is why he is offering a flat fee. The only fair way to negotiate this fight is with a purse split, so each fighter can reap rewards if the fight earns more.

Joshua made £20+ mil with Klitschko at $27.5 mil being double his highest, what a dumb ****.

Sorry, Hearn stated that Joshua will make 50% over his highest purse if Wilder agrees to the terms. Still, the numbers don't add up.

I'm glad that you explained that, but boxing fans are smart. Even when not sitting behind closed doors...many fans thought that the flat fee offer was a joke. Your post hopefully clarifies this even more. Maybe you'll reach a couple of Joshua TryHards-not. Good post.

Do you agree that Hearn wants the fight to happen then?

              So if it’s fight hype.
              What eddie actually said.

              1) we were supposed to get a response from wilder team last week, still waiting for the offer. He has been told they have already agreed a date for a breazeale fight in july. The fight “isn’t close, we just haven’t heard from them”

              2) I’m in New York next week (anyway) so I’m going to try and meet up with them (wilders team)

              3) Parker didn’t get 33%, his pay was approx $6.5 million

              4) asked for response within ten days - that is tomorrow for info

No mention of Joshua getting extra 50%, infact Hearn does say current offer wouldn’t even “double” Joshua’s last fight, while it will give wilder 5-6x his last fight.

Trading between the lines it really sounds like wilder will fight breazeale in July and Joshua will fight povetkin in New York shortly afterwards.

Of course he wants the fight to happen. Money is the issue.
