They needed promoters who see an upside based on how well the promoter did his job not a bunch of welfare-like promoters begging for big names on their cards to sell more or higher priced tickets than their club show woulda done.

The also needed a publicly seen authority figure who'd discuss the narrative of PBC more openly with the public at large. A shoulder programming show like UFC Live woulda been good. Some PBC friendly podcasts hosted by talking heads in boxing or fighters themselves woulda been good.

Ultimately I think Oscar will get the confirmed kill by the PBC haters if the PBC ship sinks cuz I believe if Oscar had sold GBP to Haymon & Schaefer the GBP version of PBC woulda been more accepted, had most of the elements it needed with Schaefer in the game still + a roster & TV situation that coulda been branched out at a slower less risky pace. But who knows PBC STILL isn't dead, so maybe they are still just trying to work through some hardships & make a better, smarter comeback in the future.

Although I still say I think if Eddie Hearn & Dana White are getting into US boxing in 2018 idk how that PBC roster isn't the number 1 thing on your mind & I suspect someone will swipe them up in 2018, early 2019 unless some big TV deal comes along for PBC somehow, someway.

a lot of you have missed the point in this thread. it was meant to bring boxing back to the mainstream yet the viewing figures have been awful and people dont even know who the fighters are.

Interesting points, brother. Love your thinking.

Although I think PBC lands a deal on its own. Speaking of Golden Boy, not sure anyone’s noticed, but they are pretty close to going out of business.

So why has PBC been a failure? what could have been done differently?
In what world has PBC been a failure? The hate in you is too real, lol.

Last weeks event was brilliant one of the best boxing events I've enjoyed this year, every boxing organization has bad ones... Hey lets take Eddie Hearn to school here this motherfxcker makes us pay Ł20 for a PPV and the only god damn good fight is a boring fxcking clinchfest with his golden goose being protected by a referee..... ANNNNNND mostly all the god damn time Eddies undercards are absolute TRASH!!!
Yet everyone acts as If Eddie and Matchroom Promotion are some sort of gods of boxing, I call BS to that!

Has it been really? Spence Jr, Danny Garcia, Thurman, Charlo Brothers, Wilder, David Benevidez, Jarrett Hurd, Danny Jacobs, Leo Santa Cruz just to name a few. I would say the platform did a great job introducing new up and coming fighters and giving them exposure. All those guys are far more known now after the exposure on PBC than they was before

While we no longer get boxing on Network TV, Showtime seems fully invested in PBC so I wouldn't say "Unsuccessful" they're the reason why Showtime is giving the fans better fights and better cards than HBO for the last couple of years

Boxing IN GENERAL is in a Bad Space in America and with the Casual Sports Fan. Networks just don't see boxing very profitable because it is not popular enough with the Demographics they wish to target. MMA does better than boxing at reaching that younger Demo so Networks will invest into MMA more than they will in Boxing!

As a fight fan there's been a lot of quality action from their cards but there's also been a lot of inactivity from some of their better fighters. I want to see guys fight three times a year so when you've got some excellent talents fighting every 9 or 10 months it's a little disappointing.

As far as success? I don't think they've been unsuccessful but I don't know that they have been a roaring success on bringing Boxing back to the mainstream. Seems the casual fans and sports fans with a passing interest are drawn more to other fighters on other networks under different promoters.

I think they are doing fine for the most part.
Not bad bad as detractors want to think and not as great as their fans want to say. It's still baffling to me how people root for or against a promoter so hard.

PBC seems like the only place you can watch good fighters these fighters, and for free. I mean non-PPV. I don't get what the issue is.

Maybe GGG should try to join them, if they'd take him. At least he wouldn't have to deal with the crap he's embroiled in right now. They have a good competition for him.

Thanks & yea GBP isn't looking good right now thats for sure. They got some guys who are on the comeup still, but they aren't THAT close to being anywhere most care about either so the longer this Canelo suspension goes the worst situation GBP is in.

I remember that PBC/Oscar lawsuit from a year or two ago that basically said w/o Canelo GBP lost money that year (believe it was 2015, might been 2016 idr). Trying times for GBP these days.
