I think so. I'm starting to worry more about who Spike will fight on the 4th.

Vanes is a Gate keeper he’s decent I guess all his loses were to champs or former champs in their prime.

Honestly I don't even care at this point. Loeffler will always choose the worst opponent available and GGG will fight whomever Loeffler picks. Loeffler is a weird guy. He's based GGG's whole career on taking minimal risks to secure a Canelo fight. He's done a great job at promoting GGG but he's the reason GGG's resume is what it is. Vanes? What is Loeffler thinking? The list of names before Vanes wasn't that impressive but Loeffler did what I didn't think was possible. He found a far worse opponent.

Vanes is totally fine. Just not at middle weight.

But say GGG fights Derevyanchenko or Saunders later... then i don't care.

Vanes spent his entire career at a lower weight.
He has not fought in two years.
He lost two of his last three fights.
He lost three of his last six outings.

With all of those, disadvantages, to also fight him while g has a full training camp and Vanes gets a couple of weeks, is indefensible. It really is.

Also, g is going to have to fight Derevyanchenko or BSJ or maybe Canelo next, if he actually stoops low enough to fight Vanes next. Once the IBF orders a title fight, there are no step-asides or any other tricks. It is you fight the mandatory NEXT or you are stripped of the title. I believe a unification fight, might be the one exception. It is possible, they would hold have on ordering Derevyanchenko if g agrees to a fight with Canelo in the fall before anything is ordered.

It is not alright to fight Vanes at any point for any legitimate champion or contender at 160 pounds.

g will most likely have to face Derevyanchenko or Saunders next. If the IBF orders Derevyanchenko g has to fight him next. I think the only way out would be a unification fight. If G is not fighting Canelo later this year, then it will have to be Derevyanchenko or BSJ or he loses his IBF belt.

I don't give credit for mandatories. Especially when the mandatory is not even in the top five of the division. Derevyanchenko is what should be a win for g, Canelo, Charlo, Andrade, Jacobs, and BSJ. He should be next, and then BSJ, Charlo, Andrade, or rematch Canelo or Jacobs. For real, having a champion fight a complete joke so he can fight a gatekeeper next is pathetic. It should be a gatekeeper next, and then another champion or a top contender.

They must be in a real tough position for picking an opponent right now. Less than a month out, new venue, no ticket sales and no promo. There is no way they can afford anyone well known or anyone with decent pedigree, as they will haemorrhage money.

I can see why they were going with Spike and I'd much rather that to Vanes, as he isn't even a middleweight and Spike would be fireworks while it lasted.

It's OK with me but then I actually like and respect GGG as an excellent champion. I think he will fight and defeat both Saunders and the Russian within 12 to 18 months.
