What happened to the Eddie Hearn takeover?

Hearn's first U.S. event - Jacobs versus Arias last November - and Hearn sold less than 1500 tickets in an arena which holds 17,000.

Hearn's second U.S. event - Jacobs vs Suliecki in a couple of weeks - and he's on track for similar results. People at Barclays Center tell me they've sold only a few hundred tickets for the Jacobs fight, while the Broner fight at Barclays a week earlier has sold more than 6,000 tickets.

Seems like Hearn isn't quite a genius promoter when he's not promoting Joshua. Maybe people should start recognizing that it's Joshua that makes Hearn look good and not vice versa.

I think Haye-Bellew, Quigg-Frampton, Brook-Spence, Haye-Chisora were excellent ticket sellers too and some of those were stadium fights. I think Groves-Froch fights did well as well. I think the re-match sold 80k.

So to say it's only Joshua is an inaccurate statement.

What were Jacobs numbers like as a headliner before Hearn? I don't think he was ever a huge draw. Could be wrong though.

Hearn clearly knows how to promote. But yea there is a difference in the UK game vs the US game & Hearn needs to work that all out.

Part of the thing is he's not put on a fight worth a damn yet. I think he's purposely doing that to gain some headway into whats working, whats not & where is there some ability to make things cleaner, more excting, more entertaining, etc. I mean I know if I'm a big promoter & come over to some other country w/o my big names I'm gonna make less riskier moves + do smaller shows til I got some bearing on the ground I'm standing on. Give Hearn some time to get his US promotional game up to speed before you dog him.

Well I wouldn't expect that, but its the fair & reasonable way to gauge how much progress he's mad or not over a more meaningful period of time.

He doesn't have his daddy's TV network to help him. He's a big fish in a small pond in the UK with a huge advantage because of Sky Sports.

Huge difference between North America and Europe
A fight in Europe is a whole day event like most of their sporting events
Kind of like an NFL game
And the characters fighting need to be a little more known ( the undercard ) , in Europe they don’t seem to care
As long as the main event is on there good to go

Anyone who understands boxing knows exactly what Hearn is...

The ONLY reason he has had so much success in the UK is because he was gifted a deal with Sky, an entity which completely dominates the British TV market and further dominates the sports sector. He’s already being exposed for exactly what he is in the US, where it is a much more competitive market.

Hearn has no pull in the US and never will...
