PPV's here without a Mexican star or Mayweather these days are a bust.
Yeah, that's why I think they shouldn't risk it by having it in Vegas.

AJ is willing to have the rematch there though so Wilder should be taking this offer with both hands.

The only way this does over say 300k buys is if Joshua has a couple of fights here first but of course Wilder fans would foam at the mouth at that though as they have done when suggested he would fight Miller first.

A fight outside of America is unlikely to generate the type of buzz were PPV is worthy unless it's Mayweather or maybe Canelo. Pacquaio's numbers took a hit when he went to Macau.

They are left with a fair flat offer to complain about or let the fight build more and then maybe make more money based on US PPV on a Vegas fight which they will complain about.

Most Boxing fans and especially the type that root for Wilder are complainers and are more into the politics of pointing the finger, playing the blame game and talk about who's avoiding who than the actual fight.

I think the fight will happen and most likely this year. I think Wilder will get $15-16m but his fans will say that's slave wages and that Joshua doesn't want to fight. I think Joshua will KO him and Wilder fans will still say Joshua was scared and the fight was a farce or a fix before they give up on Wilder and adopt a new favorite.

Joshua and Hearn are VERY protective of the undefeated record, they know this is how boxing makes huge amounts in the modern era. Wilder could put a defeat on Joshua's resume thus killing the cash cow that Eddie Hearn has so carefully cultivated.

Joshua has looked very limited in his last 2 fights, whereas Wilder has improved.

The bodybuilding robot vs the windmilling basketball player...who wants to step up first?
          Wilder has improved?

In the first 6 against Ortiz he stood there looking at him and doing nothing with a wide stance clearly showing that his boxing ability wasn't there. At the same time the crowd booed.

In the second half Deontay was nearly taken out and spent 2 rounds looking out of it while Ortiz completely gassed and was done for the night. It still took some rounds for Wilder to finish a done fighter.

Yet you say he's improved? Haha. Yeah, sure he has.

          • Part of Hearn's thought-line here is 'what's the economic cost of losing to Wilder', and the 'offer' to Wilder adjusted accordingly. Its a high risk fight for both of them, and one of them will lose.

How much Parker got is irrelevant, it was a relatively low-risk fight for Joshua, so Hearn was more comfortable going higher in exchange for the WBO belt. Wilder isn't low risk by any stretch of the imagination - you can't compare the two.

Hearn was always going to low-ball Wilder, and it was always going to be on a 'take it or leave it' type of basis, where Hearn is totally comfortable with Wilder leaving it. Its all just posturing now. Wilder rejects; Hearn says 'they had an offer but turned it down', then Joshua goes on to fight Povetkin, Miller, rematch Whyte, then possibly Fury if he's back by then.

Hearn knows Wilder is left with few other options - everyone wants Joshua as he's the big ticket financially. Why would anyone want to fight Wilder ? Low money, likely to lose, potentially lose a spot in line for a Joshua fight - options likely limited to those who have already lost to Joshua and want a second go at a belt.

Wilder's in a tough spot. If he loses to Joshua, then who's going to take a fight with him after that ? No belt to offer, still one of the most dangerous heavyweights out there, and every other contender jostling for the Joshua payday.

While Wilder is dangerous for Joshua, all but guaranteeing Hearn won't increase the offer, Joshua is also a dangerous fight for Wilder, all but guaranteeing he'll reject the offer.

            Well played Hearn, well played.

This fight is estimated to bring 80-100 million dollars and Wilder is only getting 12!!! No way let AJ get his 15 million fighting Povetkin!! 65-35 should be the split or even 33% like Parker got!! That offer is less than 20%!!! Wilder needs to keep doing his own thing he'll just be securing Joshua's retirement fund by accepting that crap.
Well said! Hopefully Wilder doesnt sign that crap.

It's about what the fighters made against Joshua in the past. Parker doesn't deserve more than Wilder at all. They are obviously low balling him on purpose.
