Comments Thread For: Donnie Nietes Vacates IBF Title, Announces Move To 115

Donnie Nietes (41-1-4, 23 KOs) has officially announced that he's vacating the IBF flyweight title and plans to make a full move to the super flyweight division. Nietes, who captured world titles at minimumweight, junior flyweight and flyweight, picked up the IBF title back in February with a seventh round knockout of Juan Carlos Reveco at The Forum in Inglewood, California.

Wonderful news! when Naoya left It hurt the division a bit but 'Superly' remains stack and is even better now with someone who is willing to walk with these lions.

Below are the top rated boxers at 115 according to TBRB.

    Srisaket Sor Rungvisai 45-4-1 (40)
    1 Juan Francisco Estrada 36-3-0 (25) MEX 1
    2 Jerwin Ancajas 29-1-1 (20) PHI 2
    3 Khalid Yafai 23-0-0 (14) ENG 3
    4 McWilliams Arroyo 17-3-0 (14) PR 4
    5 Rau'shee Warren 15-2-0 (4) USA 5
    6 Roman Gonzalez 46-2-0 (38) NIC 6
    7 Carlos Cuadras 36-3-1 (27) MEX 7

I think it would be really dope if Jerwin Ancajas defends against Nietes ; that would make another great Pinoy PPV, the oldschool vs. the new school, but I like to see Nietes vs. anyone at 115 to be honest.

Lastly, I cant believe that I'm just reading this article about the news and I'm looking at boxrec and they ALREADY have Moruti Mthalane vs. Muhammad Waseem scheduled for the IBF vacant title on the undercard of Pacman vs. Matthysse -- got to love the Flyweights!

I think Andrew Selby gets next.

Wow seems like the lower weights are the real lion's.
Always trying to fight the best of the best.
Will be keeping an eye on this division cause im pretty new to boxing its always the heavier weights that get most of the hype.
Watching a few of these smaller guys go at it though is always entertaining especially when they go toe to toe.
      Gotta love it.

I think they're setting up for the Donnie Nietes vs. Roman Gonzalez match-up in the near future.

I have seen him on YouTube on TV and in person he is the most underrated champion of any of the major bodies he belongs in the top 10 p4p my only concern is he doesn't have the pop if he moves to the higher weight but he's technically very skilled rarely cuts and has an excellent defense.. would love to see him fight and take apart Roman Gonzalez...
