  • Comments Thread For: Team Wilder Plan Counter To $12.5 Million Flat Fee For Joshua

According to a report in The Telegraph, promoter Eddie Hearn and IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua have sent a "take it or leave it" flat fee offer of $12.5 million to WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder for a unification. The contract was sent over with a deadline of 48 hours to accept the offer - or Joshua will likely make a mandatory defense against Alexander Povetkin of Russia.

      If it's a 100 million fight this is a insult that's 88/12 split that's crazy

        By design.

I'm hoping Wilder takes it and Hearn is left struggling to find a way out.

When Mayweather offered 40 million he was ducking Pacquaio. When Canelo offered 10 million to GGG he was ducking. But when Joshua offers 12.5 million it's business. Joshua and his teams are *******, quack quack.

Yeah Wilder's "pride" must be why he accepted 40 fights against D-level opponents before suddenly talking brave once he saw a potential big money fight with Joshua. He's cared about "pride" all along not money!

Yeah right. I will admit I was wrong if Wilder takes this offer, but I'm sure he won't. They're even talking about a counter offer rather than accepting it.

Not that he should accept a flat fee for this fight. It was ****** when Floyd offered it to Pacquiao, it was ****** when Canelo offered it to GGG, and it's ****** here too. Not that Wilder is as big a star as Pacquiao or even GGG, but it's still ******. Wilder should get 25% of the pie, that would be fair. No flat fee, but a percentage, 25%. He's not 25% as big a star as Joshua, but he still makes a big matchup with Joshua so he deserves 25%, that's fair. 12.5 mil flat fee is bogus.

LOL does anyone disagree Hearn DOESN'T wanna make this fight now? This is how you make an offer to some 5th rate opponent not the #2 guy in your division. Fair play doe Wilder said what he said so as long as Hearn included the reverse stipulation upon a Wilder win I'd bet ANYTHING Wilder signs the deal.

If Hearn didn't include that & I'd bet he didn't then maybe it don't get signed now who knows. I just know I like Hearn's ability to put on shows, but I hate when he plays Arum games with "making a fight bigger" or just outright putting fights off cuz they are too risky to doo now.

Is there a rematch clause in it?

Assume there is & if so thats where Wilder gets paid. Thats how this game works sometimes.

And I really wonder if there is a rematch clause if Wilder wins does Wilder get the reverse split for the rematch like Hearn & Joshua both said they'd be down for iirc.

I thought you were gonna defend the flat fee Lol. Well we agree. Its a trash offer. But in the poll I made over 70 posters think it's a great deal. I don't get how anybody can justify Wilder getting less than Parker.
