Comments Thread For: Dillian Whyte Embraces Pulev - But Still Wants Povetkin Clash

British heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte has issue with a potential IBF final eliminator against Kubrat Pulev. Last week, the International Boxing Federation ordered Whyte and Pulev to face each other - with the winner landing a crack at current champion Anthony Joshua, who also holds the WBA, IBO, WBO world titles.

Whyte vs Pulev would actually be a pretty good fight.

So, in summary, everyone waiting on the alphabet orgs to state what mandatories they will enforce before we see any movement.

      Primarily:

      1) WBC to order Whyte's mandatory with Wilder
      - Hearn's belief that Whyte will be ordered to take a final eliminator instead

      2) WBA to order Povetkins mandatory with Joshua
      - Whyte stating 'no chance' WBA will order that at the moment (err, why not ?)

      3) Meantime IBF ordered Whyte/Pulev as eliminator for Joshua
      - Whyte seeming more interested in the WBC route, else Povetkin eliminator, ie WBA route
      - basically Whyte wanting the two routes he currently doesn't have over the one that he does (Pulev)

Hearn is obviously in the background playing whack-a-mole, but can't see any game-plan that makes Wilder/Joshua more likely.

I thought the WBA mandatory was due, but Dan Rafael said it wasn't due in his chat aswell.

If you read between the lines you can kind of work out whats going to happen.

Miller should be in a final eliminator with Pulev for IBF mandatory, but no ones talking Millers name. So think that means we're getting Joshua/Miller next.

Whyte's not mentioning Breazeales name as a possible opponent even though the WBC should call a final eliminator. So I think Wilder/Breazeale will happen next, despite what Wilders camp is saying.

Whyte calling out Pulev and Povetkin as he knows those the ways to get the winner of Wilder/Joshua first.

Hearn mentioned Joshua/Wilder could be after both having interim fights, on the basis the fights already signed. Think this is what eventually happens, Wilder/Breazeale and Joshua/Miller, Joshua/Wilder in December

Joshua will take Povetkin or Wilder next, if it were Miller he'd have to pay Povetkin step aside and the Miller fight makes even less sense. Only way I can see that is if Hearn was forced to Russia then he might pay the steo aside, Russia is one didgey place for boxers particularly if their black.

Yeah I don't understand that. According to Povetkin's people and Hearn it's seemingly cut and dried barring a unification deferment:

                http://www.espn.co.uk/boxing/story/_...ander-povetkin

Whyte mentions a fight for the WBA regular belt?

"the WBA has come out a few days ago and said they want me to fight for their regular WBA world title.""

Does that mean a fight against Charr? I'd sooner see him against Pulev to be honest. If he could beat him he'd be in a very strong position as IBF mandatory for AJ's belt and WBC mandatory for Wilder's.

Doesn't Hearn have enough time to have a voluntary for Joshua (Miller) before needing to make a Povetkin fight ? Didn't quite understand what Whyte meant by Povetkin having 'no chance to enforce that fight at the moment' if indeed the WBA has ordered it, unless it means there is time for an interim fight for Joshua, with Whyte trying to squeeze in an elimination with Povetkin while Joshua is occupied with Miller.

But that would mean if Joshua fights Miller, then Povetkin has to be next (albeit the alphabets would most likely allow a delay to any mandatories if the Wilder fight were to be made).

Whyte gets a lot of hate on these boards. This is probably more down to Hearn/Wilder negotiations and being seen as a roadblock between Joshua and Wilder than anything.

I was really impressed with his performance against Browne, even if Browne wasn't in good shape. It's not just that he beat Browne - he looked really impressive doing it from the first bell, which we haven't really seen from him before. When you add in that his only loss is to AJ I think it's fair to say that he could be a lot better than people are giving him credit for.

I would love to see him vs Miller
