Def. Tito beat Mayorga down pretty good. But was I the only one that saw, that Tito was still gettin hit alot by someone who really isn't a very accurate puncher? It doesn't look to me like Tito's defense got any better in his layoff, if that's true, I don't really see a different result for when he fights Bernard again or Oscar (Oscar would have to stick and move alot from Tito cus he has no power at middleweight).

I did see Tito get hit by Mayo and not go down which tells me that the 2.5 years off did well for his chin. As far as him not being an accurate puncher, I guess so. But you have to remember that these guys were going at it toe to toe and not boxing from the outside. I think if Tito wanted to go at it that way he could have avoided a lot more punches. Mayo isnt that innacurate when your standing right in front of him trading blows.

Seeing as he was out of the ring for so long, he can only get better.

I saw Tito's movement improve. Once he shook Mayorga at the end of the first, I think he wasn't thinking defense that much otherwise, he would'nt have thrown and landed so much. Like ex said they were going at it toe to toe, they were bound to eat some punches.

Uh, yeah I noticed that......but immediately filed it away in my brain under "THAT IS WHAT NORMALLY HAPPENS."

Who, has EVER had great trouble landing punches on Tito? ****, I can't think of anyone. SO what is the big deal?

well, I say that because, when I look back at some of the rounds of the Tito/Hopkins fight, there were alot of times where they were right there with each other, but Tito could not land very many good solid blows, whereas Hopkins was landing quite a few. There were also times in the Mayorga fight where Tito would be at a distance against Ricardo, but when he went on the attack Tito would not block alot of th punches.

The bid deal is that if Tito expects to fight Bernard again, he NEEDS to make a come up on his defense or he can look at a repeat.

The fight will happen with Bernard regardless. If Tito expects to win, improving his D won't help. His best hope actually is to try to pressure Bernard and wear down the old man. If Hops is allowed to box and move, he will win easily.

Dog, isn't that what Bernard tried to do in their last encounter? Especially in rounds 9-11 Tito was trying to pressure Hopkins and was gettin his ass BEAT. He needs defense, man.
