What about Ugas idiot? He just won big, two months ago.

My thought precisely. Pretty much all the top Cuban ams who defected and turned Pro did so around 2008-9, and none of them were kids then (Rances was probably the youngest at 21) and most were well into their 20s. That's 10 years ago, man. Most of these guys are in their late 30s now.Comment

Although I’m not a fan of Lara, I was hoping he’d stop the Cuban bleeding. We’re at a low now, and I don’t see a savior on the horizon. Ugas isn’t it. There are a couple of very young guys in the pros right now who really aren’t worth mentioning yet. The guys we’ve got that have championship potential are stuck on the island. It’s probably gonna be a couple of years before another Cuban makes some noise.Comment

You’re a real fan the Cubans in the 70s-90s were elite as hell but they could never defect just like the Soviet’s.. would of loved to see both kill everyone in the game.Although I’m not a fan of Lara, I was hoping he’d stop the Cuban bleeding. I think Joahnys Argilagos defected recently, so he should be a force to reckon with when he turns up in the pros. Maybe too small for most people to care though. Cruiserweight Frank Sanchez defected a while ago too. He was slated to debut last year but I can't find any info on whether it actually happenedComment
