Comments Thread For: Linares To Work With Hernandez, Capetillo, Brother For Loma

BoxingScene.com was on hand for WBA lightweight champion Jorge Linares evening training session yesterday in Las Vegas. Renown Cuban trainer Ismael Salas has been in Linares' corner for many years but will not be in his corner on May 12th when he faces Vasyl Lomachenko in the biggest fight of the Venezuelan's career. Prior to the fight being made, Salas agreed to train David Haye for his rematch against Tony Bellew on May 5th in the UK.

Linares might have been too thirsty for this fight. I applaud his ambition, but I don't know if Loma would fight without Anatoly, or Mikey would fight without Robert. I know he's a seasoned vet, but this is a legacy fight! Shows how bad he wants GREATNESS! Good luck with that!

I see ur point Bronx. Linares is gonna have to dig down deeper than he ever has and then some!! Loma is one of my favorite fighters right now but considering the foes Linares has fallen victim to I don't see him making it out of this fight with the W! He may not say "no mas" but he's taking that L

He sees him here in vegas all the time and finally decided to trail him on one of his runs. They took off maybe 10 seconds before him and he followed closely and decided to pass him and see what he was made of. He passed and the group sped up to keep up with him. he was with two friends who kept up maybe for 2/3rds of a mile before dropping off. my dad passed the first mile at 6:10 which he said was a little fast for him. a quarter mile after that linares was out of breath and quitting, his friends laughing at him. my dad, a 53 year old man, outclasses at world champion whos about to fight the best. I love it. Just to note my father did 6 more miles at that pace.
Haha, not bad. Your dad is in good shape.
Boxing isn't a marathon tho and Linares is a fast explosive guy.
If they where running fast short intervals or shuttle runs your father would probably be puking early

Ha ha, that's a nice story to tell, and to share with your kids one day maybe. Good thing he got in there while Jorge still is a world champ though..

LInares is way too confident, or he is seriously underestimating Lomachenko! Like you, I think Lomachenko is a very rare talent, in the company of Pernell Whitaker, and Floyd Mayweather! I don't think it's a good idea to go into the ring with him being trained by "substitute teachers!"

This is an awesome story, however, 6:10 a mile is fast. I don't care how many keyboard rock stars we have here in the forum that claim they do better than that.

There's also no reason, that I'm aware of, a boxer needs to run a mile that fast for, although I guess it wouldn't hurt either.
