WBA looks at unification > mandatory, so if the WBA MANDATES Povetkin and doesn't allow unification, it would be really suspect.

I have Joshua as a favorite. Probably 70/30. Although I see Povetkin's style giving Joshua problems. Povetkin can do everything that Takam can do but much better and I thought he had decent success against Joshua.

Why would Povetkin step aside? We're not talking about some mug who got an undeserved mando shot here. Povetkin's CV probably has him in the top 30 HW's ever.

Yeah I wonder if they ordered the mando to force Hearns hand.

Everyone has a price. CV has nothing to do with it. Even GGG took step aside. He earned his mando status too.

That would be my guess, too much posturing. Kind of a "**** or get off the pot" type deal fro the WBA. But if they rule that it HAS to be Povetkin and that they won't allow a unification, part of me will be wondering if some shady backroom deal went down, since I don't recall that ever happening off the top of my head. (not from the WBA, IBO is different)

GGG is a bit different, his entire career he has dominated the division without getting much of a payday because nobody wants to face him. I'd take step aside money too just to finally get that payday lol

Other than the paper belt Wilder doesn't actually bring anything to the table that Povetkin doesn't have. The purse for Povetkin vs Klitschko was more than Wilder generated his entire career.

I'd rather see Joshua vs Povetkin first before Povetkin gets too old. A lot of newbies don't seem to realise what Povetkin has achieved. His cv is littered with wins over former world and unified champs. Wilder has 2 impressive wins. Stiverne 1 and the recent Ortiz one. Wilder hasn't particularly done much with his paper belt. At least when Povetkin had his paper belt he was making mouth watering risky fights against the like of prime Marco Huck.

Agree on both accounts. Povetkin step aside won't be cheap. He loses to both but may fact his chances against Joshua over Wilder.

Can't hate on that, both are great fights. Too bad Wilder was never able to get his hands on Povetkin. The fool juiced twice in one damn year to get away from Wilder.

You have this fight as 70/30 in odds of Joshua winning, yet you call this fight a 'potential super fight'? Do you even know what a 'super fight' is? It's a 50/50 fight between two boxers or a bout that is at least close to 50/50. Such as 49/51 or 52/48.

I'll tell you now that Kubrat Pulev vs Anthony Joshua is more of a 'super fight' than Povetkin vs Joshua. Since that fight is far closer to 50/50.

And I think you're being far too generous here to Povetkin. I don't even think he has 5% of a chance at winning. This is a disgusting / gruesome / horror like mismatch in favour of Anthony Joshua and against Alexander Povetkin. Povetkin likely gets slaughtered like an animal like in a slaughterhouse or from a horror movie. Or he gets squashed like a little bug / insect / g****. This bout is one of the biggest mismatches in boxing history. Not even close to a 'super fight'! Rather, an astronomical mismatch it is.
