Comments Thread For: Golovkin vs. Saunders in Talks For The Fall, Says Frank Warren

Promoter Frank Warren has confirmed that talks are in progress for WBO Middleweight World Champion Billy Joe Saunders to face WBA, WBC, IBO and IBF Champion Gennady Golovkin in the autumn, should he come through his fight with Martin Murray at London's 02 Arena on June 23rd. Golovkin was due to fight Saul Canelo' Alvarez on May 5th in Las Vegas, but the Mexican withdrew from the rematch on Tuesday, causing widespread rumours that Saunders would step in as a late replacement.

Well, that's the plan to fight Billy Joe Saunders or Canelo in September

In the meantime Triple G is in danger of becoming Mr. 52K if they make this fight with Munguia on PPV.

Those would be 2 very interesting fights right there! GGG getting past Saunders isn't a given tho cuz BJS can box and move and GGG ain't the greatest at cutting off the ring. With that being said, Canelo could end up being BJS mandatory! Lol.

            Edit!

I just realized that Canelo would have to get past Jacobs or Charlo and that is most certainly not a given!

You do know Canelo doesn't need to be a mandatory cause in all reality Canelo doesn't need any belts and he'll still have all the top middleweights just itching to fight him....
Canelo will still be the cash cow once his suspension is over..

According to our boy Fat Dan, they are planning to put Golovkin's fight on HBO PPV.

I like a few of those choices you have to fight GGG.

They're waiting for the commission to approve Munguia as the opponent........SMH

I sure hope NSAC rejects Munguia as Golovkin's opponent.

Not official yet but, according to multiple sources, it appears as though Mexico's unbeaten 21-year-old Jaime Munguia (28-0, 24 KOs) is going to be GGG's opponent on May 5 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on HBO PPV if the Nevada Commission approves him... So doesnt sound like Canelo v GGG this year. :/...

Canelo probably not going to fight Charlo. Why? Interesting, sure but Charlo isn’t ready for a GGG or Canelo and maybe not even BJS or Jacobs.

Canelo is like an unspoken mandatory to whatever he wants because of money. He was already the wbc champ and lineal at mw. Doubt titles are of huge importance at this stage to him.

But seriously..Munguia? There’s tons of good names waiting and if you want a mexican for the 5th, El zurdo claimed he was ready, right?
