Comments Thread For: Povetkin Distances Himself From Whyte, Wants Joshua Shot

Russian heavyweight Alexander Povetkin is distancing himself from a potential fight with British contender Dillian Whyte. This past Saturday night, Povetkin knocked out Olympic bronze medal winner David Price in brutal fashion in the fifth round. The contest took place before a crowd of nearly 80,000 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

He's the mandatory challenger for the biggest name in the HW division, so why would he want to fight Whyte? "IF" AJ vs Wilder don't happen next then Povetkin vs AJ is the best fight.

Wait your turn PEDvetkin, Joshua and Wilder have to get it on first.

The winner can fight PEDvetkin after.

blah, blah , I only want to fight Joshua. If he won't fight me he's ducking me because I am the best . I'm doing it for my legacy not the money which I don't care about until the split is discussed when its all I care about.

I won't fight Whyte because he's a road block and all those rankings with the boxing bodies he has an illusion created by Eddie Hearn to block me the only true champ.

          Did I miss anything ?

Whyte is #1 with the WBC and willing to fight Povetkin #1 WBA kudos for that. Kudos for Povetkin coming to the UK.

He's the wbo and wba mandatory, he shouldn't have to fight anyone else.

                  Unification fights trump mandatories.

The WBA president Gilberto Mendoza has stated already that if Joshua wants to fight Wilder next he will allow it over fighting mandatory PEDvetkin.

So yes PEDvetkin should wait his turn and hopefully Joshua and Wilder agree to fight each other next.
