Didn't know who this guy was until a minute ago. Yeah, he will be KO'd. Just watched a minute of a video on YouTube. Slow as molasses and there to be hit. This isn't a PPV fight. Understand Canelo has f'd up everything but was hoping they could put together a better opponent. Since the fight is Cinco de Mayo I understand the want for a some kind of Mexican opponent. Get the feeling that after this fight that Canelo will still be GGG's next opponent.

This is almost worst than Hopkins vs Hakkar.

GGG needs to stop listening to Loeffler.

If you can only fight a can, then cancel and get a BJS or Andrade in june.
Look I don't like the fight either but you don't cancel a big payday. I hope you are right though and they get a fight in June. Based on what I've seen of his probable next opponent and Golovkin's willingness in the past to fight 3-4 times a year he can still make that fight. I don't expect this fight to be very competitive, possibly very quick work for Golovkin.

BJS is by far the most deserving opponent, and dude won't be ready to fight in five weeks! blame canelo for everything, this is entirely his fault!
I agree you're not gonna get a world class fighter this late. I think you'll also agree the unified MW champion should not be fighting a SWW prospect, right?

O Sullivan is wasted, got beat up by Eubank and BJS, looked bad vs Douglas despite the win.

Munguia never beat somebody worth. He's 21 years old, that is just an horrible fight.

GGG isn't allowed to fight anyone good anymore while the Canelo fights are still happening. GBP and Loeffler are worried a tough fight could cause an injury or who knows, even a loss, that would ruin the big money they want to make with the Canelo fight. That means as long as GGG and Canelo continues to be a thing, GGG isn't allowed to fight anyone. Career on hold at age 36. It's a complete joke but you can't blame GGG. It's GBP and Loeffler. All they care about is money and they are willing to sacrifice GGG's legacy for it.

Another factor that deserves blame is Canelo ducking GGG until GGG got old. In GGG's prime he had no injury issues, and there was zero chance of him losing to the likes of Andrade or Deryvanchenko. They would have made those fights as tuneups with zero worries about ruining the Canelo rematch. But now that Canelo waited until GGG is so old and is rumored to even has knee problems now, they have to be super careful with how they match him, apparently.

Remember how GBP wouldn't even let GGG fight AT ALL before the first Canelo fight when he wanted to fight in June against Saunders before fighting Canelo in September, but Eric Gomez said GGG couldn't do it because it was too much risk?

It's a complete joke. Boxing is a corrupt joke. GBP and Tom Loeffler only care about money, and they have ruined GGG's career as a result. I'm not defending their bullsht at all, just telling you what their real reason is. GGG is not scared of Andrade, but with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line for GGG-Canelo II in September now, either GBP, or GBP together with Loeffler, are unwilling to take even a 1% risk of losing that money. And GGG's career goes down the toilet as a result. But like I said, they don't care. Loeffler is a politician he talks a good game but his true colors have shown the last few years.

At least this kid is blue chip, similar to when Floyd fought Canelo. At least he's got top talent. If GGG is as declined as I think he is, he could actually give GGG all sorts of problems. Yes he's not proven at 160, but neither was Brook, and he gave old GGG a good go for awhile. At least it's a blue chip talent. GGG is fighting a top talent, just not a proven middleweight. That's way more exciting to me than him fighting a proven middleweight like Spike Sullivan but who is nowhere near a top talent.

I'm guessing they're putting him in there because he's Mexican. Also as Golden Boy is the lead promoter its not realistic to think they wouldn't put one of their own fighters on the card. Get real
I agree it was unlikely. I think the best you can hope for is he lines up a worthy opponent in June. I'm not going to crucify him for this. It isn't a good fight but I understand the reality of the situation. Never forget this is a residual effect of Canelo's f'up. My bigger fear is that Golovkin is still going to fight Canelo later in the year. He'll wait around. While I understand the biz of that decision it is f'd up for the sport and it would justifiable hurt his legacy.

I said last year that this is why other fighters in the division should continue to get to work and make their own big fights. Who knows how long Golovkin-Canelo would play out.

yes but again, this is the hand with which they've been dealt, and that is canelo's fault. do not blame golovkin unless you're willing to find a better fighter on 5 weeks training and sign him yourself and pay the guy what he wants. it will not f#cking happen, so don't blame golovkin or cry about it!

they still have an HBO PPV [laugh] to try and salvage, a fighter on the downside of his career who has already gone through most of one of the last few full camps his body has left, a paycheck that they'd like to salvage so they don't see the money and time it took to promote the canleo fight go away completely.

i'll even go so far as to say they wouldn't be able to afford BJS as an opponent if he was ready and the fight went to regular HBO. golovkin got 2 million to fight dominic freaking wade! he'll want more, and saunders will want to get what he deserves as well!

i am half expecting this date to be called off. FFS this fight is on PPV and in las vegas. it's not cheap billing! and people like you will blame golovkin and loeffler for a bad opponent because they don't understand really simple P's and L's. they can lose a hell of a lot more than they make.
