  • Comments Thread For: David Lemieux Working on Plan B With Likely Canelo-GGG Fallout

While it's not officially confirmed yet, but the second fight between Gennady Golovkin and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez has a very good chance of being canceled in the coming days. That decision that will have repercussions for former middleweight world champion David Lemieux (38-4, 33 KOs).

    May 5th quadruple header:

    GGG-Saunders
    Jacobs/ChavezJr/Spike O'Sullivan-Lemieux
    Andrade-Deryvanchenko
    Chocolatito comeback fight

Remember Andrade-Deryvanchenko is only an $800k fight that was going to be on BJS's undercard anyway on regular HBO, so they can DEFINITELY afford it on a PPV show. Jacobs will be harder especially with the date conflict, but there are plenty of options to put Lemieux in a good fight. Lemieux vs Chavez Jr would at 168 would be epic but Jr might cost too much. Otherwise, Spike-Lemieux is a good action fight, and there are other options too.

The key, though, is GGG-BJS, and Andrade-Deryvanchenko. That can be sold as a PPV. Anything less, I won't be happy.

The purses demanded by the fighters on that card are such that it would be impossible to sell enough ppvs to justify it.

I had forgot how terrible this undercard was gonna be. Just cancel the date and move onto a new one

All these plan B’s and pullouts... you would think this was a Planned Parenthood forum.
