I agree. I am all for an injured boxer keeping his title while he heals as long as the can defended it within a year's time. Thurman has tied up two titles for way too long and plans to fight an unranked softy instead of a top contender when he finally does return to the ring, Strip him of his titles and give him all the time he needs to heal and offer him a title shot when he is ready. Enough is enough.

I don’t know about stripping him but I think if he knows his condition is a longer term issue then he should let the organisation know this, he can relinquish the belts and be given the emeritus status or whatever these organisation come up with.

At this point I’m probably going to agree.
Not only is he not fighting but he isn’t even thinking about defending against a ranked Welterweight.
He doesn’t have the same hunger for the game.
Maybe if he loses the hardware he will wake up.
Either way boxing has to go on with or without him.
No fighter is bigger than the sport

I'm not opposed to him losing his belts. These guys need a lesson and a very simple one- you don't defend, you don't hold. It's ridiculous in these times how long some guys go between defenses.

his injury is legit. that said he clearly wants no part of spence, injured or not.
Thurman is good, but spence is a whole other level.

Man this sounds the same as what McGregor is doing in his division.
If a world champ cant fight for say 12 months he should be stripped and placed as the no.1 contender for when he wants to proceed.
Otherwise he is just holding up divisions that other young upcomers deserve to be fighting for.

Thurman isn't scared of Spence. He wants to be in the best possible shape and when he comes back, he'll have been off for some time and needs a tuneup. The guy has a serious injury. It's not his fault if the org doesn't give him a time limit. You can't expect him to just hand in his belt on his own accord. If he can take advantage of the time to heal properly then so be it. Everyone knows Thurman isn't one to duck anyone.

It's a little too early to sharpen the pitchforks, but he needs a comeback fight within next 4 months, and it better not be some 50th ranked bum. Top 15 or vacate the belts. He's taking too long. Injuries suck, but that's the truth.
