There's more to it than just having a good jab. The reason Povetkin struggled with Wlad and to a lesser degree with Price is because both of them are really tall. Whyte isn't.
Since being KO'D by A.J. Whyte has looked average and done little apart from sc**** a gift decision from Chisora fight a unknown American in a pointless affair struggle with ordinary Hellenius and knock over a out of shape punch bag. That's where this so called superstar is at ......Fighting Povetkin or Ortiz or even Parker is where he should be aiming. He doesn't deserve a title shot with anyone.
Why would Povetkin, who is not young any more, risk his position fighting someone like Whyte? Povetkin is playing it safe while waiting on Joshua. beating Whyte won`t give him a mandatory position for Wilder and WBC won`t aloud him to fight Wilder. I see zero chance Povetkin fights Whyte, Ortiz or Miller.
Be an interesting one. One up and coming with power, and another is an established great boxer with power and can get off the floor and makes you go 12. Have to go with Povetkin as of now. He closes gaps and thuds.
As they say, the trick in matchmaking is to make both parties believe they can win. Povetkin may actually choose to fight Whyte instead of holding out for AJ because he is confident he can beat him. If Povetkin beats Whyte, he would be considered a threat to AJ. More so if he KOs Whyte - remember, Povetkin KOd Takam, something AJ couldn't do. So we shall see...
Povetkin is more than capable of KO'ing Whyte; this is just a way of keeping him from Joshua who is the real money earner for Hearns.
