  • Comments Thread For: Parker, Team: Scores Too Wide; Didn't Do Enough to Beat Joshua

Joseph Parker and his team believe he deserved more credit on the scorecards than he received Saturday night. Even they admit, though, that the former WBO heavyweight champion didn't do enough to upset Anthony Joshua in their title unification fight in Cardiff, Wales. Each of the three judges New Zealand's Ian Scott (119-109), England's Steve Gray (118-110) and the United States' Steve Weisfeld (118-110) scored the fight for Joshua by wide distances.

I hold massive doubt that Joshua landed more If he did it would have definitely not been 30-40 more it would have been by not much.
Compubox really need to give videos on what they're seeing to fully back their stats.

Joshua didn't do enough to win by the scores that were handed out, the fight was genuinely very competitive and a draw for Parker is absolutely something that could have happened in an unbiased scorecard.

You just have to wonder If the referee did his job properly would that have been better for AJ or for Parker, this was the only time we seen Joshua fight so cagey and scared he barely threw much 383 punches through 12 rounds and he is only 28... Could have been the referee affecting him, but nobody can say Parker didn't try he threw way more than Joshua and he looked like he wanted it more as well.

Something that worked for me is to watch the fight a second time while looking at Parker's face. The punch stats make a lot more sense that way.

This official compubox is a crock of shyte, there is no way Parker landed 50 less jabs. And If it were scored a draw, that would be fair. Josh 7-5 is also fair. But 10-2, NFW

I watched it the first time sober, I just think they don't count body shots because Parker at around maybe the 5th round he seemed to only really attack the body because he couldn't a find a way to hit the head.

Yeah those scores make CJ Ross and Byrd proud.

Parker may have started out too quick. For saying he can fight more than 12; he faded those final 3 rounds. That wasn’t being cautious. Joshua turned it up in those and Parker seemed a bit tired to try much. Complete opposite of what I expected later.

I agree. Parker didn't do enough to win but neither did Joshua. If that fight didn't have the high profile that it did and they were just 2 unknowns then it would have been scored more fairly and more evenly. I think that 7-5 or even 8-4 could be justified. There were so many even rounds that seemed to be given to Joshua just because (let's be honest) he's AJ. Even if I was rooting for AJ I wouldn't feel comfortable with trying to back those scores. I'm a big Mayweather fan and I don't think he won Castillo I. That's being Honest.
