Comments Thread For: Junior Fa Tabs Joseph Parker To Beat Anthony Joshua

Both fighters showed respect for each other, WBA, IBO and IBF titleholder Joshua tipped the scales at 242 pounds (110kg) - 12 pounds lighter than for his most recent fight against Carlos Takam in October. Parker, the WBO champion, weighed 236 pounds, nine pounds lighter than his last fight against Hughie Fury in September.

Wow, I'm shocked that Junior Fa picked his Samoan brother to win! He's got some nerve! How dare he do that!

      LOL yea.

I must say I'm surprised Tyson Fury & Deontay Wilder both are picking Parker to. Idk about Wilder's prediction history, but I respect Fury's take on guys.

I remember him hyping Ortiz back before I was paying much attention to him. And I was still questioning him up til Wilder honestly, but even in losing to Wilder I got more respect for Ortiz now then I ever had.

So I'm curious what I'm missing in Parker that Fury is seeing.

Parker's best chance is rounds 6 to 9..
He needs to go to the body early to slow AJ down then get him with speedy combo's in round 8 and he can stop AJ.

If he does it then this guy will instantly become the biggest name in boxing.. Gotta love a underdog story.

Fury doesn't see **** in Parker, that's just his boy and he can't stand Joshua. A completely obvious biased pick. Which is fine, as long as we don't look at it like Fury is really picking who he thinks will win and not who he wants. Hell, he's such a big Parker fan he was doing the damn haka with him in the locker room immediately after the guy beat his own cousin.

Fury and Parker are really good friends and Fury and Joshua have went at each other verbally on more than one occasion. I'm not surprised Fury said Parker is going to win, Lol.

I remember when Wilder picked Charles Martin over Joshua, he picked Breazeale over Joshua, he said Molina was going to be a tough fight for Joshua too. Lol

Parker looks like being in for a whole world of trouble. This is the best shape I've seen AJ weigh in since I started watching his fights seriously. Lean and mean and not too ripped, with just the right amount of body fat to get him through to the later rounds, if needed.

Parker has always had no option (with his short arms) but to get in close. AJ will be waiting for him - and will answer him with speed and precision. Expect to see a few uppercuts aimed at Parker's elbows, now that AJ is aware that this is a possible Achilles Heel of Parker's. Prior to the weigh-in, I was wracked with some degree of doubt about the outcome of this bout - but now, I am certain that the accumulation of power shots from AJ will be enough to overwhelm Parker.

Should Parker survive for 12 rounds, I'd expect there to be an AJ v Parker 2 fight down the line. His team is relatively easy to deal with for Matchroom and a good fight always leaves room for a sequel.

If the improbable happens and AJ loses, the rematch is guaranteed. Again, I say "improbable" based upon my observations of both fighters at the weigh in. Both have shown physical improvements since their most recent fights - but AJ stripped far the better.
