He hasn't been accused of cheating but probably of being reckless. The fight is as good as cancelled. If Canelo gets suspended for six months to a year for good reasons it's good for boxing in the long run.

Yeah ignorance and negligence isnt a good enough excuse and at minimum a suspension is warranted.

The Nevada Athletic Commission canceled a hearing regarding Canelo Alvarez’s temporary suspension set for tomorrow. Bob Bennett says he completed his investigation, has filed a complaint against Canelo and a disciplinary hearing is set for April 18.
