Comments Thread For: Hearn: Showtime is Frontrunner To Secure Anthony Joshua, But...

This coming Saturday night, Showtime will televise the sixth fight involving IBF, IBO, WBA heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (20-0, 20 KOs). Showtime signed a multi-fight deal with Joshua in the aftermath of his big IBF world title win over Charles Martin in early 2016.

Hearn is gonna get an offer from SHO and see if HBO can beat it. Thats the way I see it.

Hearn said everything but "We're going back to SHO". To me that means he is going to HBO. Which means the AJ/wilder fight is not likely to happen next.

        I hope I'm wrong.

HBO certainly needs him more than Showtime does, but every rumor I hear is boxing's budget at HBO is quite a bit smaller than it used to be. HBO may think they can get more bank for their dollar bills by signing MW and lighter classes.

Obviously, as the Big Dunn mentioned above, Joshua at Showtime is better for the fight with Wilder. I am sure HBO is going into this knowing that fight has to happen, but still it is a ton less flaming hoops to pole vault through to make it happen if they are both on the same network. 100% chance of it being 2019 before the fight happens if Joshua signs with HBO and not Showtime in my opinion.

I prefer HBO over Showtime for Joshua. Wilder will continue to be around and when the time is right for big money to be made, these two will get together for a huge event. The HW championship of the world would be an event of the century, and I think both networks can make nice for that.

Yeah thats it. Not because it's the biggest fight that can be made in boxing right now. It's because I want to throw shade at Hearn because he is white.

I can respect this but feel strongly the AJ/Wilder fight should be next.

AJ and Wilder are the best HWT's in the world. This is the biggest fight in the sport. Frankly, with Canelo testing positive, it would help the sport if we have a massive world event where a clear undisputed HWT champion is crowned.

Miller, Whyte rematch, and Fury will be there for AJ win or lose.

I understand AJ should take the best deal he gets and have no issue with that. Just want to see the fight. I don't think it happens next if AJ goes to HBO.
