You realize Barry is an olympic silver medalist boxer right? He got a robbery from Evander Holyfield for getting hit after the bell. So when you say non-combatant he had a decent amateur background. As a cornerman and trainer of course his advice and strategy is crucial to the success of his fighter.

Non combatant means exactly what it sounds like.

Is Barry fighting? No he’s not, so that makes him a non combatant, obviously.

And it doesn’t matter what the trainer sees, does or says if the fighter can’t execute it in the ring.
