He complained that the NSAC allowed Canelo to stack his wraps, but the NSAC reaffirmed that they allow hands to be wrapped that way.
Everyone has looked at this as favoritism to Canelo, and obviously, that was, and is, the intent of it by the NSAC, in my opinion. However, now that there is a rematch, and everyone knows the NSAC allowed it to be done, it should turn into an advantage for GGG, if only Abel wasn't so ******.
Think about it. Because of the NSAC's bias towards Canelo, GGG may need a knockout to win. And what could help more towards getting a knockout than being allowed to stack your wraps?
See, as a GGG fan, all I want is an even playing field. The problem is, Abel, in all his wisdom, said in an interview that even if the NSAC allows Canelo to stack his wraps again, he won't stack GGG's because of "integrity" or something.
Hearing that, the NSAC of course issued a statement that, in that case, if Canelo is still going to be the only one doing it, then of course stacking is still allowed! Well, they didn't give their motive, but we can put two and two together.
Way to start a negotiation, Abel, by giving away the farm before it starts! A true genius! See all he had to do is tell one reporter, "it's fine, I'll just stack GGG's wraps too," and it would have taken less than 24 hours for the NSAC to issue a statement that stacking is no longer allowed in any fights under their jurisdiction. But since he said he won't stack GGG's wraps no matter what, the NSAC instead issued a statement that the practice is legal.
The thing is though, Abel's mistake may actually help GGG even more. Because like I said, if Abel had come out and said at this stage that he would just stack GGG's hand wraps in return, the NSAC would have surely outlawed the practice. It's only because they think it will still only be Canelo doing it that they have gone on record saying the practice is legal.
But that's the thing. The NSAC, which is a commission, has to go on record about their rules. Abel, merely a trainer, is allowed to change his mind about what he wants to do at any time, so long as it is in the rules. And thanks to the NSAC affirming that it is legal, we now know it is. It's set in stone. Now if Abel were to change his mind, they would have to let GGG stack too, or come as entirely corrupt.
The problem is, I don't think Abel was playing 3D chess or anything. I think he's just dumb, and I think he meant what he said. He will literally put his boxer in the ring with an opponent who has stacked wraps, in a commission that is allowing stacked wraps, without stacked wraps. In a fight where his boxer needs a knockout, and where stacked wraps could help him get it, no less.
So as a GGG fan, I fully expect, and request, that Abel give his boxer the fairest playing field possible under these circumstances. He needs to use the next two months of training to practice stacking wraps, and get GGG used to how they feel, and then that's what he needs to do on fight night. An even playing field. Simple as that. He talks about integrity? Integrity means fairness. There is no integrity in putting your boxer at a disadvantage. That's just cowardice, stubborness, or maybe even disloyalty. The NSAC already said it's legal, so instead of putting your boxer at even greater risk entering a gunfight with only a knife, stop shunning the gift the NSAC mistakenly gave you, and arm your boxer accordingly with the same weapons that Canelo will be armed with, figuratively speaking.
Stop being an idiot, Abel! Or is he paid off by Canelo's team the same way JDJ was by Ward's? Maybe he secretly wants his countryman to win or something? I never would have even imagined that before, but if he's seriously not going to stack his boxer's wraps against an opponent who is stacking his, under a commission that says it's legal, then I can't think of any other explanation. No one is that ******, so he must have an ulterior motive, right? Otherwise, it would make no sense at all.
